So “Spartan” Buck formally of ODST and “Spartan” Locke formally of ONI are part of Fire Team Osiris, Spoiler if you haven’t played the game they are and I get that part. What I am having a hard time understanding is how did these two un-augmented humans get as tall as Spartan-117 from what I have read in the Fall of Reach John 3 and a half meters tall because of his genetics makeup and the augmentations and enhancements.
Can anyone enlighten me to as how this was over looked or came to be in Halo 5: Guardians?
Spartan 4s are augmented otherwise they wouldn’t be able to wear the armor. Also the amount of augmentations a spartan 4 receives is based off of their genetic makeup, so osiris probably had very good genetics and were able to get a lot of augmentations that led to them being basically equal to spartan 2s.

Oops yea 2 and a half meters my bad haha but still that is above average but it is about 500 years into the future so maybe everyone is that tall and Dr. H is a vertically challenged.
Because they’re augmented. The Spartan-IV augmentations (using Buck as an example) add 7 inches and 50 pounds to a human. Hence why they’re all around the same height.
It makes sense from a game development standpoint.
If the Spartan IV’s were smaller, then they would have to alter the viewing perspective and Spartan models in MM and Spartan Ops compared to Chief in the Campaign.
And with Halo 5, they would have to alter it for both sides of the Campaign too.
Basically, it was less work for 343 to have them as tall as Chief.

I’m pretty sure Locke’s 6’10 is taking his armor into account, while John’s 6’10 is not. Usually, if only a single night is given for a Spartan, it includes the 4-5 inches mjolnir adds.
Well as it’s been pointed out several times above, Spartan-IVs are tall because they’ve been augmented. That’s what makes them Spartans. Not all of the Spartan-IVs are super tall, but Paul DeMarco and Carlo Hoya are both 7’1. Spartan-IVs can be as tall as the Spartan-IIs.

demarco is taller than the chief demarco 7ft1 chief 6ft10 and thorne is the same height as the chief thorne 6ft10 chief 6ft10 s4 are basically same height as the twos

Helmets and the way they’re designed could also make a Spartan like Locke look as tall as Chief who is 7 Feet or 6’10 without armor and helmet. I’m pretty sure Locke is the same height as Palmer who is 6’9 right?
