Why is Fiesta so Annoying in This Game?

To my mind it’s a combination of the broken stuff like desync, hitreg, the weapons that are useless at the moment yet still in rotation, and the fact that it’s “lol random weapons”.

There are too many guff combo’s you can get at the moment. In theory you can kill people with them, in reality 9/10 times the guy who spawned with the rocket launcher will instakill you on sight. To add to the injury there’s a good chance you’ll respawn with the same crap setup or worse while he’ll dominate and horde a dream setup alongside the rest of his team. It’s a gamemode with a high tendency to go towards rich get richer situations and it’s all dominated by chance.

Yes, you can turn things around sometimes, the big comeback, but more often you just get used as floorcloths or most of your team does and you scrape even. You’re powerless because of a system you have no say in, you have an unfair disadvantage and it’s likely to get worse as you go. That’s a pretty solid recipe for guaranteed frustration.

They need to fix all of the above, especially removing guff/unreliable weapons from the pool, and maybe even consider making set combo’s instead so that there’s never a chance of anyone getting a useless setup, just different ones.

I do wish that rockets were removed from fiesta. I wouldn’t mind the sword removed as well. But I think it may be especially frustrations because everyone spawns with equipment. I’d like to try random start weapons with equipment pads enabled. I think that would make for less unpredictable gameplay and incorporate one of Halo’s best features; fighting for items on the map.

Vehicles would be more hellova annoying if rockets were removed unfortunately.

Commando’s more of a preference thing… When I started tap firing it I started liking it a lot better. But I’d say the Battle Rifle definitely better then it most of the time. The Assault Rifle is generally better the closer you are to the target, but worse when you get to range. I actually prefer the Commando over the Side kick just about 100% of the time.

I got most of my killjoys by cheesing a grav hammer / sword weilder with a BR or rockets since they always seem impossible to kill otherwise.

For me it comes down to the weapon sandbox and the maps in combination with equipment. Depending on the map, it changes what weapons are useful and it’s the same with equipment. On a couple maps it’s just even worse when a tank spawns on one side and the enemy team gets it, while your team continues to spawn with normal weapons. But that hardly matters when it’s so hard to kill a tank with any weapon and should a banshee spawn, someone might be dumb enough to get in it to give somebody a free kill because that thing is made from wet toilet paper.

Maps like Launch Site and Behemoth have the issue of only range weapons being good with some use for explosives. While all the other maps are so small that any range weapons are basically useless. On these you want… no need Grapple Shot and Sword. This becomes the killer combo because Sword just wins all fights unless you get lucky or have just the right weapon with just enough time/distance to use it. There is no hard counter or equivalent to the sword. In past games we’ve had shotguns that could kill in a single shot before you get sliced. The Hammer was superior to Sword in past games because it had range/aoe and a small lung. It can no longer win that fight because it clashes and then losses to the Sword as they get a second swing before you can even finish the fist slam. Nothing can actually beat the sword.

The current balancing means that specific weapons just win and everything else losses. Desync doesn’t help either.

That’s why I think there should be a timer that randomises everyone’s weapons every 30 seconds (for example).

Or maybe you get new random weapons after every kill…

There are waaaay too many one hit kill guns or guns with splash damage… Honestly it makes the game mode not fun at all.

my personal opinion? We need a random weapons mode and a random power weapons mode, not mixed. The BR is a cool weapon. Bit annoying when the enemies have 2 rocket launchers and swords with grappleshots.

For me it’s all down to the weapons we have in Infinite. Or rather the stuff we don’t have. The sandbox is so insanely tuned to balance that they left out weapons that serve similar purposes, fun stuff etc. H5 had the craziest and most fun Fiesta and now we’re down to normal weapons that aren’t even fun to use in the normal modes.

We need crazy weapon variants.
We need more weapons.
We need better maps.
We need Fiesta to feel casual instead of competitive

They should include the variants you get in campaign

from what I can tell the weapons aren’t exactly random. if many people die at almost the same time, you’ll notice they often spawn with similar loadouts, or all have a power weapon, or two pistols. add to that people with power weapons tend to keep them (by being alive) and it’s pretty punishing if you don’t go packratting cool weapons you find in the gutter.

I’ve played like a hundred matches and it doesn’t feel like placebo from low sample size.

It feels like after start, everyone just spawns with the currently set loadout which changes every 8 seconds or so, but I’m definitely probably wrong.

I know it’s meant to be completely random, but I’d prefer it if the weapons were grouped into classes (short, mid, long) and you’d get a random weapon from two classes. At least, you’d feel like having a fighting chance, instead of sometimes getting two sniper rifles, or two pistols

I think the problem isn’t Fiesta itself, rather it’s the challenges.

You’re tasked with doing something that’s somewhat dependent on RNG, which means it’s out of your hands, that can be very frustrating.

Fiesta is supposed to be this random mode where anything can happen at any moment, and that’s quite fun on it’s own. BUT, add a desire for something very specific to happen within all the randomness, and it just becomes a frustrating waiting game where you reroll and reroll until you get that specific thing.

Spawning in with a pulse carbine that doesnt track and plasma pistol that doesnt do damage against enemies with anything better or on par with the AR.

Finally spawning in with a weapon that’s useful, then instantly getting shutdown because hits are inconsistent in this game and the slightest bit of desync instantly ruins your chances, or just getting spawn killed because the 5-7 however long second respawn timer means its easier to stagger spawns and keep fights unfair if you know where they spawn. This is only exacerbated by the natural snowballing that takes place.

To fit in with the frenetic randomness it’s supposed to be going for, maybe they should change everyone’s weapons and equipment randomly every XX number of seconds.

Would also stop people hording and spamming sword and grapple combos

I think Fiesta would be so much more fun if the rockets, sword, and hammer were removed. What was already said would also be good; have two Fiesta types. Non-power weapon fiesta and power weapon fiesta.

Just a Few Mutually Exclusive Suggestions:

  1. Exclude power weapons from loadouts and put them on the map.

  2. Enable infinite ammo and disable weapon pickups.

  3. Throw in some different gametypes for some variety.

I don’t mind fiesta, when I spawn in with weapons such as a plasma pistol I have to outsmart my opponents, it forces me to learn how to use different weapons effectively, but if there is little to no-hit detection and lag, it’s a nightmare, and that happens way too often.

When I spawn with a plasma pistol, or ravager, I try more conservatively and provide back up for my team. There’s little chance of me getting kills with those two weapons, so I usually hope I can at least help with assists before I get better weapons

You’re clearly playing dumb. You answer the question in your own post. Why did you even bother making this when you know the answer?

Fiesta is a party game mode and it’s frustrating because 343 decided to implement a challenge system that utilizes party game modes. It’s not rocket science.
