Every person I check in the lobby has the DMR as their favorite weapon. Is it that good?
It’s the most used weapon because it kills easier and quicker than the other precision weapons.
And that’s not a particularly good thing.
> Every person I check in the lobby has the DMR as their favorite weapon. Is it that good?
Yes, there is no scenario in Halo 4 where you will be disadvantaged using the DMR.
At any range it overpowers every other weapon in the game. It has a far greater range than the BR, and makes it a very effective precision weapon on maps such as Ragnarok, Exile, Meltdown or any of the Crimson maps.
It’s rate of fire allows it to win in a straight up fight against practically anything.
So yea, thats why.
Everyone thinks it’s that good. I just maxed out the commendation for it and started using the BR, I haven’t noticed a big difference yet, but then I’m not the type to snipe with it across large maps…
I personally carry a light rifle, and even a LR and BR in one loadout. Lightrifle seems steadier for long range than the DMR for me. I used to swear by the DMR in Reach (being a regular SWAT player)
Actually mine is BR according to waypoint. It’s actually also my personal fave. And I think it can consistently beat the DMR at closer ranges.
DMR is next though, I’m working on commendation mastery for it and then maybe LR next.
It’s not my favorite weapon it just happens to be a good weapon. Thus I and a lot of others use said weapon.
Range, Speed, & Accuracy… Go figure…
My most used weapon is BR and I keep a pretty high K/d ratio with it but…don’t bother using anything than a DMR unless you you want to purposely handicap yourself or are just nostalgic about the BR. Whoever thought about giving recoil, spread to the Mid range weapon and laser accuracy to the DMR is a frigging noob. Let’s not even include more bullets to kill per mag and the x3 scope of the DMR…Jesus Christ.

I wouldn’t say it’s good in a gameplay way. A very effective weapon yes, better than the others. unfortunately the rest of the precision loadout weapons seem to me to have been a waste of time in programming them into the game. They should all have the same kill times, they do not. The rest of them have their own niche on the battlefield, but the DMR overpowers all of them. Jack of all trades and master too.
I personally prefer the Carbine or BR, When in a game where everyone is using the DMR I find myself being forced into choosing the DMR too and that is not how it should be.
There are many posts and threads on the internet complaining about this.
Because it literally has NO DOWNSIDES AT ANY RANGE. Faster kill speed, longer kill range, more accurate, fires 1 shot(cant miss part of the burst)
As much as I like the other rifles and consider them more fun and competitive, this gun is better at this point and unless I wanna be completely frustrated all the time, I am forced to use it.
My favorite is the BR but I don’t use it because the DMR is stronger.
Not necessarily everyone’s favorite, but yes it’s that good.

There’s no doubt the DMR is OP but that statement is ridiculous.
I am a big fan of the carbine. Of course, the DMR is better. But… who’s going to pick it just because its good. thats silly… oh wait… everyone.

Why? Because its practically true?
DMR is an utter noob cannon and is powerful at every range. Therefore, it stands a chance against any other weapon no matter where you are.
In response to the OP: My most used is the BR. Its competitive and fun to use.
I use the BR because it’s the most fun to use, and requires me to get closer to enemies.
People use the DMR because it excels beyond all other guns at long range, compares slightly above at medium-long range, and is around even or still slightly better at the close ranges, which are rare with these increased map sizes.
It works great at every range, the problem is that doesn’t suppose to happen
My favorite weapon is the BR i always use it. I don’t like the DMR maybe because of the whole thing with bloom in Reach, I wreck people with my BR, thats going against players using the DMR which is mostly almost everyone. I do sometimes pick up the DMR, but the BR is my main weapon.

Practically true isn’t completely true. A BR finishes low shielded players way more reliably than a DMR, so it’s viable to use Firepower for a DMR and a BR. It also is good for team shooting, shot so that’s a plus.
