I get it everyone wants to have “good” K/D but that does not always make a person with a worse K/d a worse player. Sometimes it does but not always, im one of those players that could care less if i get 1 kill and 20 assists or 20 kills and 1 assist as long as we win.
I see some people say oh you took my kills im like ohh you joined my team.
I haven’t ran into one person who mentions or cares about K/D in H5
Closest I’ve seen is a couple SCs with K/D minimums
What inspired you to make this post I wonder?
It’s frustrating when you pulled out your best skills to win a duel, and someone takes all rewards with a single shot.
Funny everyone cares about K/D but in reality it all depends whether you’re playing with a team or not. Check out the pros streams, their mains have great K/Ds as they play with their teams but they have second accounts they go in alone on and have average K/D’s.
Everyone’s K/D should be around 1.0
A very high K/D means that you are either playing against people way below your pay grade… or you are K/D farming in objective games.
It is a meaningless statistic.
Cuz you cant be l337 without a 5 k/d , ignore that i got it from ctf and have a 0.1 w/l im above you all! Lol!
Mean while
Guy has a KDA of 1/10/47. Oh i see why we lost his kd sucked. Lets ignore that all the kills our team got where from his efforts and he single handedly stoped the team from getting pub stomped.
Seriously now. K/d doesnt mean crap. I know plenty of people with negative kd who are very skilled. They just like to play swat.
I’ve never taken KD seriously in Halo
Well K/D is viewed in two ways:
Pros: Gives the team an idea who is getting the most kills and who is getting the most deaths. Using that data the team can work to fix any strategy issues or even understand what a player is doing to get that high or low count. Some players are even used as traps or distractions so their K/D count would seem bad to normal people but in reality they are helping their team win.
E****veryone Else: K/D is used as a way of gloating or saying that one player has a bigger -Yoink!- than the other.

All the kills your team got were from his efforts when he only has 10 assists? 47 Deaths is also abysmal.
Like it or not K/D is meaningful.

I think he was saying 10 deaths and 47 assists. I also think it was an example and not an actual incident, but I could be wrong.
But anyways K/D is meaningful, but only to a certain extent. I’ve seen some gold players on these forums point out how they had a higher K/D than some other guy, but the other dude was an onyx … The fact that your K/D is 0.2 higher than his doesn’t mean very much in this scenario.
It’s a pretty pointless stat really. You could check out people’s kd before a match and see they’re just in negative and think “great we’re going to wreck these guys” only to find they’ve played nothing but mlg pro’s and they then proceed to obliterate your team.
Or you could come against a team of losers who stat pad in objective games against lesser opponents and have kd’s of above 2 and end up crushing them.
in short, kd is relative to the standard you usually play so unless you know their entire game history, it’s an almost pointless statistic.
True, people’s k/d can be greatly influenced by a number of different things. Most of the time I don’t feel like I run into people that have incredibly misguiding K/D’s though. Most of the time …
K/D can me skewed by a number of variables.
i do have a habit of keeping my KD and (hopefully) my win ratio over 1 and 50% respectively, just to look at my stats and say that generally, I at least have more positive performance than negative. It has a bit of a prestige-ish feel to it, but overall it isn’t particularly important.
Tbh i think its the only thing that is “rewarding” in Halo 5. Ranks are pointless, at least a decent K\D ratio is respectable. I started well in Halo 5 but i have lost it since i get frustrated with the game and loose focus… But ill eventually get back to the green.
I don’t see the point of even showing it on your service record for arena because in capture the flag and strongholds i get like 4-15 as i’m focusing on the objective.
People with a positive kd ratio are welcome to my team anytime
Ah the weekly “bash people better than me” thread. And you say we’re the ones with the problem.
I like having a positive k/d because it shows I can actually kill people reliably.
I like when other players have a positive k/d because it shows they can kill people reliably.
Normally if you go positive and have a good win %, that means you can out shoot and play objective. That’s what I look for when I go to invite people. I don’t want to invite people who are much worse than I am and there’s no other way to tell how good they are really.
I don’t care less on my K/D ratio and winds me up when I get killed going into a enemy base to stop the clock only see watch as so called team mates hold back as the base get captured rather than risk being killed saving the base!
Has for defending our flag carrier … I’m the one who jumps in front and takes the bullet.
The one that stays holding the base while half the team buggers off to kill an alien while base after base gets over run.
I’m the fool who makes a suicide run of the enemy base to either find out who and what in there or by a miracle capture it.
K/D ratio is not even on my things to do list, top of the list is WIN !

So basically you make exceptionally bad tactical decisions that often result in meaningless deaths yet you have the audacity to blame your team? A 2 second delay on a base capture is worthless 98% of the time. Successfully out slaying the other team and actually gaining and holding area control is what matters.
