Only in Halo do I hear this in game chat. Stuff like:
“Ohhh check out this kid with the OS”
“These kids are tryhards”
You get the picture. I hear it every day. I wonder how long this has been a thing and why? Being almost 40, I could argue a lot of players I go against are indeed, kids. Anyone under 18 I would call a kid. But I get called a kid almost tbe time and I could certainly be the dad to a lot of these “kids”

I hear it a lot in other games too, sports games, or other competitive shooters.
I think it’s just sort of the putdown lingo. Nevermind that whoever is dropping the names doesn’t bother to check that I’ve had my gamertag for eight years (or for others, longer). It makes some people feel better knowing they’ve dominated or got dominated by little kids, either because they’re little and they suck, or because they have too much time on their hands.
I’m in my mid-twenties and still get called it every once in awhile. Pretty silly.
I hear kids and people talking in the same room. Or in call of duty’s case dumb dumb’s “playing what do you mean”. I don’t understand how little kids play HALO might have a older brother or something. And why only kids have mic’s. I have a mic and only use it when I play with friends or team arena. I also never hear girls with mic’s.
The internet uses “kid” as a term synonymous with “unknowledgeable”, “immature”, and “irrelevant”. People use the term when they want to feel greater or more important than someone else.
In terms of online games, kids are often associated with having lots of free time, so calling someone “kid” may be a way that someone internally justifies them being a better player or having more stuff in the game.

Yep Halo 5 was the first. Rather unfortunate in my opinion.
Yeah i agree…They just want more people to buy there game, but imho war should have blood and aftert this thread i realized they reduced the gore in halo 5 to basically nothing at all i dont think humans even bleed at all…

Its synonymous with “noob”, “newbie” or other similar term. It can also be expanded into “BK” (Bad Kid), to refer to someone who is not only the above, but also unskilled in the game.
If there’s any truth in the claim is unimportant. Its an insult.

You have people to talk to while playing - I am jealous - I never have anyone with headsets on while I am playing - no wait I did yesterday it was someone talking to their roommate the whole time about their life
