Why is everyone against sprint?

I have seen tons of people saying they want sprint removed. But why?! What is so bad about sprint?.

Edit: let’s try and keep this a friendly discussion.

Some feel that sprint is a get-out-of-jail-free card, meaning people who are on the wrong end of an engagement can just sprint to safety. Some feel that it adversely affects pace of play, map size, and other inter-related game features. None of these people are wrong. It can be used to escape, and it does affect pace of play, and indirectly affects map size. The question is whether or not you consider these effects to be for the better or for the worse. I personally feel that it brings a lot more positives to the table than negatives, but I’m biased toward long range weapons and bigger maps and game types where the effects are less obvious. Many of the anti-sprinters who took the time to patiently explain to me why they hate what it does to traditional 4v4 game play… they got through to me. I’m sorry it does what it does to their play style. I’d be annoyed as hell if I played the game types they play at the competitive levels they play. But I don’t. And I just can’t even conceive of how warzone, or even BTB, would work without sprint. If they take it away someday then I’ll make my peace with it, but I hope they don’t.

Thank you for your response. And I don’t think they are going to remove it. It has become a part of fps
And [correct me if I’m wrong] has been in every halo game in some form. But if 343i updated it to what Reach’s sprint was like maybe it will help since people could then not use it forever

Yeah, sprint should only work for a limited time, then you should be forced to rest, just like the thrusters work.

Exactly. Hopefully 343i will fix this

Sprint wasn’t in every Halo game. It wasn’t in any of them until Bungie gave us Reach then left the franchise.

Sprint creates a host of problems, and is ultimately pointless. The same general pacing can be achieved just by shrinking map sizes or slightly increasing base speed, and it will be much smoother and more omnidirectional as well.

Didn’t 3 have sprint?. I remember having something to move faster

Might I ask. Why are you against sprint? I find no problems. Also if we could move faster that would be the same as running and shooting. turning halo into cod
