Why is everybody talking/complaining about sprint?

Almost every thread is an argument explaining reasons to go anti/pro-sprint. Everyone has proved their points and 343i will do whatever they feel is right. Everyone has made almost every point there is to be made on each side. Why can’t everyone talk about ideas or speculation for Halo 4 instead? I never thought I’d actually have to make a thread to stop this nonsense…

Applying sprint in Halo 4 when a company says that they will keep Halo like Halo is nonsense.

> Applying sprint in Halo 4 when a company says that they will keep Halo like Halo is nonsense.

everybody has a different opinion on what pure halo is and im sure theirs alot of people that like sprint as well. their really is no solution to this and what ever they do i will learn to enjoy!

If Halo stayed exactly the same every game it would lose its effectiveness, and would fall far behind current shooters. Halo’s population would fall, people would complain, and it would slowly die. However, if it innovates, it will stay alive. Its been said several times that Halo 4 is maintaining the classic Halo feel. And to keep up to par with the current games and expectations, it will be innovating as well.

And how can sprint not be Halo? Spartans have been clocked at extremely high speeds, so wouldn’t it make sense to have the Spartans be able to gain speed in gameplay? It helps you get to the battle hotspots faster if you spawn far away from it. It helps you make longer jumps to get to new areas.
Why don’t you complain what is and isn’t Halo after you’ve seen more than a few seconds of gameplay.

What’s wrong with always being nimble? All Sprint does is force the default movement to be slower, so Sprint can be a viable option. Slower movement just ruins strafe, thus lowering shooting skill. There is no need for it when we can just move quickly by default, not needing a button.

Pure Halo should not be considered Reach so I don’t really see how there can be different opinions. A game that started the controversy can not be called pure Halo. The pure Halo is CE, because it was the first in the series. No one had anything to complain about because it was brand new. 2 other games followed in the original’s footsteps, Halo 2 and 3 had very similar mechanics and interface, while Reach adds AA’s and bloom. Far from the original game and doing something that clearly wasn’t liked, and if you don’t agree with that, go look at Reach’s population and then compare it to what the other Halo’s have been at during the same time in their “cycle.” Halo isn’t the casual shooter alot of the people that like sprint want it to be. It’s been a competitive game from that start and that is how people view it.

-Yoink!- IT.
Please get this into you alls HEADS.
HALO REACH IS NOT THE FIRST HALO. it does NOT define the rest of the halo games.

NO YOU SAYING ITS NONSENSE IS NONSENSE.

> Why is everyone talking/complaining about people talking/complaining about sprint?

That’s so last week. I’ve moved on to complaining about people who complain about people who complain about sprint.

Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, and Halo 3 ODST never had sprint. Shadowrun 2 added sprint. Sprint is simply not part of the Halo formula.

Only Halo 3 had usable equipment. Only ODST had a hub world. Only Halo 2 had playable Covenant in the campaign.

Does that mean that none of these things are part of “the Halo formula”?

what is the halo Formula, sprints not just in shadow run its in just about 98% of shooting games to add i higher realism to the game and a good mechanic. Only differen halo has done it right yet Halo reach failed at implementing it in a away that was smooth

ANd there are a large group of people that have been wanting sprint since halo 2 i being one of them why because is add a high level of skill, IF its implemented correctly, which there is still a chance for halo 4.

lol… Halo was it’s own game, it was extremely successful. Reach tried to copy other games, it’s the least played game that has Halo in the title. Care to try again with a little less derp?

Copying other games is not innovation…

Gameplay > Canon. ALWAYS.

> Why don’t you complain what is and isn’t Halo after you’ve seen more than a few seconds of gameplay.

We’ve already had sprint, it was terrible and broke gameplay.

Halo 3 had equipment that you had to pick up, not spawn with like in Reach. btw, you could play as the Arbiter and those other 2 Elites in Halo 3. The hub world had no negative effects to the game.

Spawning on uneven ground, sprinting, and a lot of the other additions from Reach cause negative effects.

I Agree, I don’t see why everyone complains about it. I like having Sprint, it was the only armor ability that was good in Reach. Plus, 343i STATED: “Halo 4 will be a fast pace game”. Sooooo if there was no sprint and you where “fast-walking” like you did in Halo 3, it wouldn’t really be “fast paced” now would it?
