Why is crouch on the B button?

Because thats what it is like in COD. Just answered my own question.

There you go. Fishstick is even worse.

Because Sprint (as a default) is easier on the LS than the B button. But yes, it is definitely influenced by CoD.

On which control scheme?

If you’re talking about Fishstick, that control scheme was made directly for newer players coming from other shooters.

There are multiple schemes. Because one has a popular crouch button these days doesn’t mean 343i are specifically copying other shooters. They want to make the control schemes accessible for everyone. New players are coming from shooters with crouch on B, so this is a way to make sure they’re as comfortable as possible.

Well it had to go somewhere for sprint, which needs to be more readily available.

As for fishstick, please let me send a hand written letter to 343i for you condemning them for trying to make halo more accessable to players more used to another style of FPS and demand they remove it. I would LOVE to.

There wasn’t a problem using X for sprint in Reach’s Bumper Jumper. B couldn’t be any worse.

Default.

Default has crouch on B which is the only reason I’m not using it, I’m adjusting to Bumper Jumper

If its not accessible, new players won’t get very comfortable with it, which might have a bad effect on the fanbase and population.

If you don’t like it, don’t use it.

How will people crouch jump with toggle crouch?

Of course it’s worse, because it requires you to take your thumb off of the right joystick – you know, the one you use to control which direction you’re going in. It makes perfect sense. If you have a problem that one single aspect of the button layout is similar to another game, then you’ve got some serious priority issues.

I’ve turned it on in other games just to test it and it’s still possible, even ghandi jumping is with a fast thumb.

That’s why I use Tatical in CoD. Tatical also makes it easier to drop shot.

There are still other control schemes. It is wierd to change the default like that, but it may not be hard to get used to others.

Are the ones they’ve shown us all there will be? I remember them saying there will be a lot of control schemes…
Are the others going to be that hard to adjust to?

I use Recon so its not a problem for me. That way I don’t have to switch and adapt to different controls each game, unless I’m going back to play Halo 2 or CE/A.

I was talking about Default. You know, the one that most “Halo” players should be use to.

Oh for crying out loud. Don’t let this turn into a hate thread because an optional control scheme has crouch on the same button as CoD T_T

Yeah, I figured that by now.

Are the other ones too out of reach to adapt to?

If anything, I’d reccomend you adjust to the Recon layout. Its in Reach so you have time. That way the other buttons like crouch aren’t affected much, and the only thing you need to learn is reload/action on RB and melee on B. Then Sprint being toggled won’t make sprinting with X too hard to use.

To make it easier to go from one FPS to another. It’s great that most FPS’s controls are being unified to similar control schemes, I think. It makes it much easier for most to switch from one game to another.

Also, the other control schemes are there for the people who prefer them. It doesn’t bother me at all because I’m not going to be using default.

Bumper Jumper will stay the same too.
