Why is chief dinged up

as we all see chief has the new armor but My question is why is it dinged up with scratches and dents. did 343 decide to keep the halo 3 look but change his armor or did he get in a few fist fights on requiem.

it is confusing

in one of the trailers a covenent armada attacked his ships remains

Hopefully Halo 4’s campaign will explain things. It’s possible that he gets the scratches and damage when he crashed on Requiem. Due to being a game, changing the game model might not be an option.

He didn’t change armor, it is just a new visual deisgn of it. It is still the same armor that he had since Halo 2.

Actually, it’s been upgraded by nanobots. Even the Halo 4 story page makes note of the Chief’s armor being “heavily modified” Mjolnir Mk. VI. It’s a weak explanation, but, for better or worse, it’s the official story.

Oh, didn’t know that one. But it is still the same armor, just modified, right?

So I was partially right?

when I meant changed armor I meant the design

This is true. Its the same armor just like you said, “heavily modified”.

please read my previous post

what trailer. I have not seen any halo 4 trailer where he is fighting covenant

Sure, but it’s not “new”. The nanobot story is so lame that it’s barely even worth noting. No reason the gash on the chestplate wouldn’t be fixed if they really truly cared and adopted about the whole nanobots angle.

The artistic license angle is a hundred times more important to them than the nanobot angle.

I beg to differ, because the fact is that 343 is going to with the nanobots to explain, in part, the Chief’s new look.
