I don’t like to be the one to complain, but it’s been 4-5 days now since I’ve begun to have problems getting into btb matches and it’s really getting on my nerves. At first it wasn’t terrible with the problems getting into games happening after every few games or so, but it’s almost near impossible to get into a game of it now. I literally spend more time in the menu than I do actually playing the mode. I don’t mind arena but BTB is my go to playlist and it’s getting really frustrating I can’t play it.
EDIT: It has now been a month if not just over a month now BTB has not been working.
In my opinion is sparks curiosity how a working playlist was broken out of the blue.
Did someone forget to QA a commit to the game or is there a problem was the hosting service? Most games usually get these issues settled in hours if not a day at most.
Pretty much exactly my thinking as well. I was hoping that maybe with the new playlists being added BTB would have been fixed as well but I guess I was mistaken.
“Problem with the Matchmaking Lobby”, “Disconnected from Local Network”, and “Could not join fireteam” paint a different story. I think I’ve seen every error under the sun just trying to play 1 BTB match.

The problem is they see this as intermittent. It’s almost every game. Btb broke when they did the Dec 8th update for the release of campaign. It has not worked right since. We all need to submit tickets and officially let them know it’s not working. My fear is it will be like H5, where every update broke something in the game that took ages to fix or never got fixed. It will be a long ten years if that’s the case.
I have been trying to figure things out and get it working for myself. The one thing I Have noticed is I haven’t been able to get into highpower sense the update but the other two maps will show up.
I think it might have to do with the wasp some how, but not sure.
I’ve played on all 3 maps since this issue has started (when I get lucky and the game allows me to get into a BTB match), so I doubt it has anything to do with a specific map or vehicle.
Also, in case y’all weren’t aware, @halosupport on twitter has acknowledged the issue even after they’ve supposedly “fixed” it and they’re currently investigating it. However, imo, seeing how the holidays is right around the corner, I doubt they’ll have another fix till early next year…
been having the same issues with the other playlists, all be it to a lesser extent. such as SWAT (not calling it the new name) or fiesta, very rarely would it be like ‘unable to join’ or something of the sorts. but i’l agree, it’s leagues more common on BTB than anything else. my theory is that most are playing BTB, because well… it’s sodding BTB. but if that is the case… then 343/monesoft must own the WORST possible servers for halo infinite. if it really does cost them so much for these servers, they’re getting scammed xD
From a developers point of view and from reading the last update, I think maybe it might have something to do with available servers. It seems like there is a queue of match types for each playlist in rotation, and so by adding these other 3-4 game mode playlists, it has created additional rotations and queues.
I’m sure they have enough servers, that’s not what I am suggesting.
Chances are it’s going along the lines of more people are now lining up to play these other modes, by the time a server has been readied for BTB (however it works in the backend) another game mode has already been filled and gets in just before forcing the BTB match out, or timing it out. It could be a number of different things. Some people might be getting in to BTB still, so the capacity could be split a little too. Who knows…
I don’t know how they have there network infrastructure is setup, but I can’t imagine it will be a problem for much longer.
I see you have discovered the basic potential of trying to fix a coding bug. This will ALWAYS and forever be an issue. There is no preventing the possibility of “breaking” something when you fix something else. This is the exactly why things take time to fix. Shame to think all these new halo players have and expect a “one button fixes all” mentality
