Why is Analyze Exclusive to Kinect?

I believe the D-Pad still has three buttons that are unused. Still, 343i needs to make the Kinect owners happy, so I believe the Analyze feature should stay Kinect exclusive.

Actually the D-Pad is used as an Alternate left stick in Halo CE. So Up, Down, Left, and Right will most likely still move the player in Anniversary.

Really? I never knew that. Anyway, getting a Kinect now is a good idea becuase MS plans to integrate Kinect into every game in some way, shape, or form.

I do hope they end up putting a patch out for anyone to use analyze. I want to use that feature so badly because you know it’s going to be wicked sick.

The Kinect is awesome because it is really the only one that uses your whole body and voice commands but I don’t see buying it because Rise of Nightmares is the only game that I want for it and I can’t justify buying Kinect for one or two games. Money isn’t readily available for that kind of expenditure.

Here’s to hoping but it probably won’t happen. Sad face…

Getting a Kinect now isn’t a bad idea. MS announced at E3 they would be integrating Kinect into every game from now on. Expect Kinect options in Halo 4.

Also what you could do is buy CEA on the day it comes out and then ask for a Kinect during the Holidays.

Then use an X-Box live chat mic.

It worked for Tom Clancy’s EndWar it could have worked for CEA.

Still, I feel happy for those who have kinect. If I want to see the Library, I have YouTube for that.

The Xbox Mic doesn’t run on the same coding as the Kinect mic. Nor is it anywhere near as useful for picking up pitch and tone in a players voice. Take Rock Band for instance, if you use the headset, you have to YELL or the game won’t register your voice. But with Kinect you can sing the way you were meant to.

In short (kinda) going from a Headset to Kinect is like going from a GBA to a DS. You can Kinect to do anything a Headset can do. But a Headset cannot do everything Kinect can.

That and you’re gonna want to talk to your friends when you play CE right? Kinect can actually tell the difference between you giving it a command and talking to someone else.

The way I see it, just suck it up and get Kinect, or Youtube the Library once the game’s been out a week or two. Its not a big important deal. And if you get Kinect you will be ready for 2013, when almost ALL games coming out will feature Kinect compatibility.

Sure, it’s unnecessary to make it Kinect, but why does not having access to what basically amounts to an ingame Halopedia.com bother people so much? Personally, I already had Halo CE Anniversary preordered long before the announced analyze, and one extra feature isn’t going to alter my experience one single iota.

Partially this is because Halopedia is full of holes. This Library will hopefully fill alot of those holes. The little bit they showed about Stealth Elites already revealed a ton of new stuff about the rank that nobody knew yet. Like how they work under the Special Warfare Group as a part of Fleet Security.

It’s laziness only in assumption, because you have the Kinect, but seem absolutely unwilling to utilize it. For you, it’s not a matter of going out and dropping $150, you’ve already done that. All you have to do is set the thing up, and then BAM! you have the Library. Hell, you don’t even have to play all the crap games.

> But the Limited Edition/DLC is only for people who have a Kinect, which is still stupid…

Then it’s even better than a “Limited Edition.” Tell me, can you go out and buy a Legendary Flame Helmet? Can you find it on the Marketplace? You could pay $500, and still never receive it. With the Library, you are guaranteed to have access to this - yet again - minor feature when you gain access to a Kinect.

Hell, if you guys want it THAT badly, then just borrow someone’s Kinect for the single day that it will likely take you to Analyze and view everything.

I’m looking forward to this feature. I also am looking forward to waking up my neighbors in the middle of the night as I shout out “Grenade”.

The Directional pad was used to control movement in addition to the left stick, so yes, all of the buttons are being used on the controller.

EDIT: Forgot to quote this, so I’ll just put it here.

The D-pad wasnt used in CE, theyre just making it Kinect exclusive because they want to, they would make A LOT more money if they released as DLC, but they would have A LOT fewer pissed customers if they weren’t such money grubbing -BLAM!- trying to sell a black camera that has no place within a Halo game

> I’m looking forward to this feature. I also am looking forward to waking up my neighbors in the middle of the night as I shout out “Grenade”.

They won’t be able to get me to bother saying something instead of pulling a trigger or pressing a button. If it was complicated and would slow down the game, like say Mass Effect’s radial menu. I would certainly just say “Liara - Singularity” instead.

> Please explain what I’ve said that makes you think I don’t understand the development process, as I really don’t follow you. The likely outcome here is that it is you who doesn’t understand the development process. What with me having worked in the industry for several years and you merely being a fan. You choose what you want to believe, I believe in facts based on my own experiences with the company in question. Every single company that falls under the MGS umbrella will pitch every single game to Microsoft, they have a greenlighting procedure like every other publisher. Games don’t get made by Microsoft that haven’t been pitched to Microsoft. That’s just a fact.
>
> And we’re not in agreement about this, your opinion is that a feature was removed from the standard game and had Kinect functionality added, I am of the opinion that a feature was added with the sole intention of supporting Kinect. You say a feature was removed, I say a feature was added. They are different stances.
>
> Selecting a couple of sentences from my post out of context and removing everything that disagrees with you does not mean we agree.

> The thing we agree on is that the intention was to make money, but that point is moot. Every single thing that Microsoft ever does is with the intention of making them more money. As a company listed on the stock market they are legally obliged to make the absolute maximum amount of money possible for their shareholders.

So you honestly think Sabre pitched this game to MGS? That’s what makes me think you aren’t a game developer.

And I don’t need to PM you. You can post your resume here. I’m sure your non-disclosure agreement doesn’t prevent you from listing what roles you have played on past games. As for your name, that’s not really important.

And we agree on the subject because there is no reason this is exclusive to Kinect other than a Kinect purchase incentive and it doesn’t really need to be tied to Kinect.

> So you honestly think Sabre pitched this game to MGS? That’s what makes me think you aren’t a game developer.

It seems that you think the only way a pitch can go is “Here’s this game idea.” I am not a game developer in the slightest, yet even I know that at some point, 343i and/or Sabre would have had to meet with Microsoft Gaming Studios and say “Here’s what we’d like to do with this iconic Xbox game. Can we have funding for this?”

But you still need the Kinect to access the Library. Yes, you can borrow it and scan, but whats the point if you still need the Kinect to see everything? Its not very likely that you could scan EVERYTHING and memorize the Library in one day. It would’ve been so much simpler to make it usable on the controller, or at least make some sort of DLC allowing non-Kinect users to do the analyze and Library things from the controller.

> But you still need the Kinect to access the Library…

Then borrow it for a week.

It’s not like new information is going to be added after you’ve completed it. For pity’s sake, you don’t even get anything for completing the Library! And it’s not like you won’t be able to see this information ever, it will be online for you to read.

This is all an increasingly annoying example of how some people can just never have enough.

Its not that I don’t think I have enough. Its the fact that they made it Kinect only. Do you realize that this will split the community? Kinect and Non-Kinect. And wheres the fun in reading online? You don’t get a 3d model of the object rotating in front of you while you read, and you really think they copied and pasted everything from online? Besides, you can make it a challenge for yourself to find and scan everything in the game. Theres a lot of stuff to find, and you can feel like your a true Halo fan when you have your own Library of the main characters of Halo. Its better than google searching “Covenant Spec Ops Elite”.

Your misinterpreting what he said. He means all the information from the Library will be online after the game is released. However, I completely agree with you about that it’s much cooler to have the actually Library.

Good thing I have a Kinect.
