Why is Analyze Exclusive to Kinect?

This is sad news :frowning:

> There’s a big difference between looking up info on Halopedian and “collecting” that info in-game.

You’re right, there is. Collecting the info in-game will take time, and after the first completion of collecting all said info tid-bits, this “awesome, super-special feature” will become bland, boring, and likely never used again. Online, the information will be immediate, possibly more complete, and readily available for referencing. Oh, but this Analyze feature is much better, right?

> And there is no logical reason why that feature should be exlusive to Kinect except that MS/343i decided to make it exclusive…

That is the logical reason; marketing. Giving people the incentive to buy a Kinect is just one aspect, what of the people who have a Kinect? The other “features” of voice command are even more hollow, as they can be easily done by the controller. So what do we get? No matter what would be made “Kinect Exclusive,” you people will whine and feel entitled to it. Be glad it’s such a minor, useless feature.

> If games actually made good use of Kinect, maybe I would overcome my dislike of it…

I could go through a good list of games and uses for the Kinect (actually requiring motion in a nation of morbidly obese people,) but that’s an argument for another day.

> And, not that cool of a feature?..How is it not a cool feature!?

Because it will get boring and over-used very quickly. I guarantee it. You may break it out to show friends once or twice, or use it for nostalgia a few months down the road, but it’s not a feature that will be used to a great length.

Got to love Microsft and their moneh…

Lolwut, That’s what it looks like in any game if you don’t have a 3D tv.

What he means is that the 3D works without 3D glasses if you cross your eyes. You don’t need a 3D TV for it to work. Look it up on Youtube.

Yeah, I know what he was talking about and I was just telling him that that happens on EVERY game in 3D mode if you don’t have a 3D TV.

than go and buy a kinect exclusive game. just because some people shelled out for a gimmick doesn’t give Microsoft a good reason to screw the majority of halo fans. if you want exclusive stuff for your kinect that go out at buy some kinect exclusive games. but halo should not have to suffer from cosumers like your self who are suffering some buyers guilt over purchessig a money fueled gimmick

you are letting microsoft win. you are getting mad at the people who have it, because they have more features. if you want the feature, you get the peripheral. its as simple as that.

im gonna feel so awesome when i say “analyze” for the first time

The Kinect is not a “gimmick,” it is essentially the next stage of the Xbox. And you’re not being “screwed,” you’re unable to access to a very minor, peripheral “feature.” Until you buy a Kinect, or

I will agree that the Kinect is impressive and that its technology is probably the future of gaming, but MS needs to realize that many people are not quite ready to make the jump, and that quite possibly the easiest way to get people to use it is to include it in the next generation console.

Well, maybe little - and this thing is SO little - features like this Analyze mode and the Kinect games are that “easing in” period.

I could just imagine one of my friends messing with me and saying “grenade!” every time I pick a grenade up or “reload!” while I’m shooting the flood on legendary. I mean why would anybody want to wait for the kinect to respond to your command anyway? You could just press a button and BOOM you’re done. Options are always good though I guess.

Oh and if I see a “Better with Kinect” purple line across my Anniversary, I may just not buy it. It’s not that big of a deal but if this was “for the fans” then they wouldn’t put that fugly on it.

“It’s not that big of a deal.”

Yet you’re making a big deal out of it…

You are making a big deal out of it. Who honestly cares? Do you display your cases so that you can see the front of everyone? Welp, if you don’t get it, I’ll just have to message you and tell you how much fun I’m having analyzing everything and hot swapping graphics engines.

it’s not really a big deal. If you don’t have kinect you use the back button to switch from old to new

Nima, that’s not what they’re upset about. It’s the “Library” feature.

I really dislike the fact that this feature is Kinect exclusive.

I never use my Kinect. It was a waste of money and I cannot physically use it in my bedroom(which is 2 feet smaller than Kinect’s requirements).

Analyze is a cool feature, but it isn’t going to make me dig the -Yoink!- thing out of my storage boxes…

Just be glad the terminals aren’t Kinect exclusive.

> I cannot physically use it in my bedroom(which is 2 feet smaller than Kinect’s requirements).

You’d still be able to use it; it deals with vocal commands, not gestures.

And you have the thing, so any complaining on the feature is just laziness.
