again i said most people alredy know and those who dont who gives a -Yoink- its a limited feture that only the little 5 year olds r gunn use
I don’t want to sound like a jerk, but I shelled out $150 for Kinect, I deserve some cool exclusive stuff.
Hell, I haven’t touched my Kinect in like half a year.
I’m glad it’s Kinect only, I feel like Kinect was actually worth it now, especially since MS says they’re going to try to bring Kinect into every game.

If I had Kinect I would use it. I think it’s an awesome feature. I’ve wnated something like this since Halo 2.

ehh i guess it is KINDA cool but not as cool as everyone is trying to put it out to be
Im not sure how possible this is, but I would at least like a DLC or TU allowing non-Kinect users to be able to see the Library in game. Maybe the TU makes the ability to access the Library and scan on the controller, and the DLC is the actual Library. As in, we still have to pay for the feature, but we don’t have to neccesarily spend 100$ on a device you most likely wont use very often. Like I said, im not sure if this is possible, but I want something like this. Obviously not right after the game’s release… let those special Kinect users have their fun first. I’m not a Kinect user, and im just trying to make a compromise… if you can call it that.

dude just stop whining its not theat cool a feture
Whining? How was I whining? And, not that cool of a feature? Knocks on your head Hello? Is there a brain in here? How is it not a cool feature!? Halo fans that are there for the story believe its cool, like me. Even if you can see everything online, I wanna do it from the Xbox, with a 3d model rotating infront of me as I read. You don’t see that online.

well i love the story but i dont see a point in wasteing my time looking at -Yoink- i alredy know goes back to reading ghosts of onyx
the new scan looks really cool and i would love to use it but i dont have a kinect and im not going to spend 100$ so i can yell at my tv and be able to use scan -____-
Still don’t believe you. I love how you word things. I’m not asking you to reveal ‘all your personal details to a random online’, only an idiot would do that. And why would you lie about this? Wow, you have to ask that question? This is the internet mate.
And I know the library looks like it has gesture controls as well as voice. My point is that it feels tacked on. The entire library seems to have no way be built specifically for Kinect. It feels like the idea of using Kinect to access has been shoe-horned in. I honestly wouldn’t mind if Kinect users got some feature that wouldn’t be plausible for someone with a controller. That makes a lot of sense. Can’t you see that this content has been intentionally walled off for no other reason than to make it exclusive to Kinect? Is there any harm at all in letting the library be accessed by a controller other than financial?
And nah, I don’t mind pre-order incentives. I do think they’re annoying for the customer when they’re so confusing and exclusive to different retailers but I don’t think it’s unethical. DLC. And I don’t even mind DLC released a month after a game launches. I don’t think any sane developer in the world butchers their game in order to sell it back to people after launch. I think it’s every developer’s motive to release the most complete game they can.
I actually own a Kinect. It’s on our second XBOX that my kids use in what is called ‘the Gamecube room’. If I wanted to I could hook it up to my main XBOX, in fact I probably will. I’m not upset that I’m missing out on anything, in fact most people on these forums who have a Kinect don’t mind and that reflects the general attitude of gamers. Gamers are too easily shafted. I’m just a man of principles. I think this is wrong. Now, sure it’s only a minor feature but it’s the principle. If someone does something wrong it’s the principle that bothers me not the severity. If someone walked up to your wallet and opened it up and took a dollar out of it would you just say “ah well, it’s only a dollar?”
It’s 343’s actions that I disagree with, not the severity. If we give developers an inch they’ll take a mile. Today it’s just a Library feature. If they feel like they can they’ll take us all for a ride. Who knows what amounts of content will be walled off to promote superfluous peripherals. What about needing a Windows phone to play Firefight? Sure that’s ridiculous but it’s the same principle. Where do we draw the line?
Microsoft probably wanted (payed) 343i to find a way to include a “Kinect exclusive” feature in the game, but honestly I’m not dropping $200 for something I can watch on YouTube.
why arn’t you guys complaining about the exclusivity of 3D TV’s then? huh?
they wanted to give a little special something to kinect users, and i respect that. it is there way of saying, we are sorry you spent all that money, hopefully we can make the pain go away.
if they release the library on dlc, ill be pissed.
Since Halo: CEA is using the Halo CE engine for gameplay, all the buttons on the controller are being used, even the directional pad. Because they don’t want to change anything at all gameplay wise (skulls are optional, so they don’t count) they’re most likely not changing the control layout, because that could lead to unexpected screw ups in the game, so the Kinect sensor is the only way they could add more functions that require the player to perform an action outside of the game.
If you want to know why this couldn’t be done through a standard headset, Kinect has voice recognition software built into it, meaning that 343i/Saber don’t have to create a custom voice recognition software.
NOTE: I’m neutral about the analyze feature, so I’m not with or against the idea.
> The frustrating thing is that this feature clearly wasn’t designed with Kinect in mind.
>
> If they wanted to make this game ‘better with Kinect’ they should have done to the effort of designing something actually worth while that exploited the Kinect properly like a mode in which you aim the gun or steer a vehicle. Then it truly would be ‘better with Kinect’.
>
> But no, instead of making something new that makes the Kinect worthwhile, they shave off an feature that doesn’t even require Kinect and force you to have a Kinect to use it.
>
> So it’s not really ‘better with Kinect’, it’s simply ‘incomplete without Kinect’.
>
> Someone, anyone, give me a reason (besides being a blatant cash grab) why this feature is exclusive to Kinect when it would be even easier to use by pressing the d-pad?
i think the only reason they didn’t do that was because it might require changing part of the CE code which they wouldn’t do as opposed to linking voice to buttuns like grenade or classic. analyze was possible because it was built on the upgraded graphics layer kind of like the transition to classic.

Because you actually need a 3D TV to do 3D. They could have mapped Scan to the D-Pad or had a menu option where you couldn’t swap graphics and back scanned. OR used the Mic for the voice command. Yes, it supports voice commands.
