Why is 343 ok with leaving the MCC broken?

It’s been about 2 years since the Master chief collection came out, and 343 still hasn’t fixed some very major bugs. The game still freezes all the time, loading takes forever, and getting kicked out of matchmaking after every game is infuriating. Why is 343/Microsoft ok with selling us this unfinished mess of a collection? it saddens me so much, as I am a very big fan of Halo, and would love to play these amazing titles without all of the of these annoyances ruining my enjoyment of these games.

Sadly because the storm about the title has blown over, to the point that Halo 5 players believe the title is completely fixed. And doing more work on the title would 1) cost them more money and not see any return on that money spent and 2) bring attention to the fact it’s still not in fully working condition.

I’ve been trying to push to Ske7ch alternatives 343i could consider to bringing the games back to life in a more realistic manner that would benefit 343i, us, and the franchise. But I think after their colossal failure with the MCC that they are very weary about doing any more work on the classic titles (either MCC or a Halo 3A) for fear of failing again, and highlighting those failures even more. They’ve already released 3 highly criticised titles. A 4th would bury them.

Other than joining parties, me and my friends no longer have any problems with it. either we are lucky or you are unlucky.

The answer is simple. Money.

Just wait to see Blitz get the most love in HW2. Money.

I think 343 and MS being one in the same, is very, very dangerous. People on the 343 team love Halo. I’m actually close friends with one of them. The passion is there, trust me.

But the people on top are making the calls. I wont list names, but do you think the high ups in 343 (aka MS) REALLY care about Halo? Even play Halo?

Long term business success will have to reach beyond the cash grab (REQs). Quality and true love for the game will ultimately create the most long term success. And the vast majority of 343 ‘workers’ agree with me / us.

Sad.

Having played matchmaking on MCC steadily for the past few months, I haven’t encountered many specific matchmaking issues. BTB can take a while to find a game sometimes but the smaller playlists seem to be fine through my experience.

However, I am a bit hesitant to try for LASO playlists as I would hate to sink some time into achievement hunting for them only for progress to not track. Can’t say I’ve tried recently though

  1. For the most part people have gotten past it now
  2. because of that it’d be a waste of 343s time and money when most have moved on
  3. 343 can’t handle it so they ignore it
  4. Don’t think it’s broke so why not

Unpopular opinion but I myself see it as to much trouble to even bother as I said it from the get go. How many people even try to make a collection of games that span different generations and then try adding it to a brand new one (Xbox one). You have 4 games of coding, and 3 consoles of coding to get meshed together. Keep in mind that for every code you tamper with, you risk the potential to then break a different code in a different section of the game. 343 should’ve just stuck to making a halo 2 anniversary only rather than biting off more than they could chew. I appreciate the idea they had but ultimately it was to big of a project for them to handle. I don’t excuse them as we still paid money and they accepted the job of doing so anyways, so they don’t get that free pass but I think it should be reasonable to see why they didn’t succeed. Again, how many people even attempt what 343 tried? Mcc is a huge failure, however I personally see it as a chance to see with the improvement in technology and game design knowledge that we may eventually see devs attempt remastering franchise collections but hopefully with a better success rate. The only thing I wish out of 343 is that they at least should try to show they want to fix it, simply refitting the playlists doesn’t cut it for me. Even if they were to never get it 100% fixed, I’d at least see they’re working on it and showing effort.

No REQ system to make money from…

It’s a damn shame that Certain Affinity, Rockstar or Dice couldn’t just create a new studio at their respective place’s and hire the hard workers at 343 who care about the series. I’d love to see the higher ups at Microsoft and 343 come into work and see all the hard workers not their and a simple note that says peace the look on their faces would be priceless.

I honestly haven’t had many issues with glitches or freezing, or anything of that sort. However, staying within a lobby after a game would help so much with consistently finding games. Playlists could stand to be worked on, too. The CE playlist should be 4v4, and BTB could be split, as many have asked for. Map weighting can be improved, possibly. Skill matching is just plain non existent it seems. It would be helpful if we could see population counts in playlists.
But otherwise, I think the MCC has been great. Halo 2 anniversary multiplayer is wonderful, and Halo CE on live is incredibly awesome- But I barely ever get to play them, due to playlist and population issues.
