I have been playing Halo since i was a little kid. When my dad would get home from his shift at the fire station, he would be there playing Halo 2 with me on Blood Gulch. Ever since then I have been really excited for the next Halo game to come out. But this time around it’s just not the same. When Halo 4 came out i couldn’t wait to go to gamestop and pick up my pre-ordered limited edition copy. But the more i played the game the more disappointed i got. Then here comes Halo 5. I once again pre-ordered a limited edition copy praying that they fixed their mistakes from Halo 4. Once again the more i played the game the more obvious the flaws were. 343 industries took one step forward in gameplay but 15 steps back in terms of the campaign. Now here is Halo infinite and im just not that hyped for it because i have already been let down twice. I am in no way hating on 343 and i really do appreciate 343 continuing the Halo series and i realize they had big shoes to fill but i just cant get myself hyped up about it. I want to be able to play Halo Infinite and remember the fun times i had when i was a little kid because when i played Halo 4 and 5 i felt like i wasn’t even playing a Halo. I will still be buying Halo Infinite in hopes of a better Halo experience. But for now i have lowered my standards because i don’t want to get excited for something and for it to turn out like Halo 4 and 5 did. If anybody is the complete opposite of my position i would love to hear your perspective.
I think thats a fair statement. Im in the same boat as you. Also, until we get some more info on the game im holding back judgement.

At first I was like I can’t wait for this game but now I’m just waiting for something to make me hyped again

I agree with eveything you wrote, except the bold bit. Why would you be prepared to part with your cash for Halo Infinite at this stage ? I bet you’ll go for the top tier edition too. Don’t buy it until we know all the details. If I was a developer reading your post I wouldn’t be worried, I know you’re going to by my game.
It’s the same with FIFA 19 and other games, everyone moans about the previous titles, Halo 4 and 5 in your case, but they buy the next game anyway. Put your money where your mouth is and don’t buy it in hope of a better Halo experience, buy it when they make the experience you want.
Until players really stand up and kick back things won’t change, look what happened with Star Wars BF2, look at pre orders for BFV, players are voting with their wallets, time you and a lot of other Halo fans did the same imo. I’m not giving 343i any cash until I know ALL the pros and cons. I used to blindly buy Halo, never again.
You’re not the only one.
Halo 4—strike 1.
MCC—strike 2.
Halo 5—strike 3.
Jesus Christ, is Microsoft really content with throwing money down the drain here? Halo’s easy sales, but ever since 343 took over the series has gone from an entertainment icon to something you play for a week or so every three years until something better’s out. By the looks of things it’s only going to get worse, too. The first piece of tangible information about Infinite had to be dug up from a job listing, and what was it? Oh, the game’s going to be one of those “live service” gimmicks packed full of microtransactions… great! Stumbled right out the gate. Three years after the disaster that was Halo 5 and the only thing anybody knows about the next game is that the devs will be heavily focusing on something that’s almost universally hated. The brain trust is in full swing.

I could not have put that any better. Going by the OP Halo is definitely easily sales, there’s nothing for developers to worry about if fans are going to buy the game in hope of a better Halo experience. Whilst I’m happy there won’t any real money loot boxes, the live service, micro transactions and player psychology wording has me concerned. I’m hoping for a great Halo experience, time will tell. I posted when these forums started that I would give them three games, they’ve had three, now I need convincing.
Completely understandable. Based on facts, as a classic Halo fan there is no real reason to be excited for Infinite yet beyond the art style. I wish more people would keep their expectations low and wait for more information because as of right now a lot of people are just getting their hopes up.

That’s really fair to say and I can see where you are coming from. But it really seems like 343i is trying to make a good game when it came back to the previous titles. So Halo Infinite is the last straw for me. If they mess this one up then I will know they are lazy and they don’t listen to fans. But you have to buy the game in order to know if YOU personally think it’s a good game. You can try to go off of others opinions but you won’t get the full scope of things. You pretty much need to buy the game to know if you like it. This is why I am still buying it because I know people will be biased and I want to conduct my own pros and cons so I can see how the game turned out. I can’t not buy the game and just assume that it wasn’t the Halo experience I wanted.

Yeah I mean, realistically it can be still 2 years away… thats sooo long. I think it would be great if we got the beta really early. Something to bridge the gap till the game comes out.

I actually thought halo 5 and 4 was pretty good

Nice! Everyone has different opinions. For me, i just compare 4 & 5 to 1-3 & its not even close. 4 & 5 just didnt do it for me. But thats just me.

Not really [to the bolded]. I know myself and my gaming style/preferences well enough to watch some YouTube gameplay vids and get the “full scope of things” to probably within 95% accuracy. IMO, I just think that people who say that you have to buy it and play it are simply trying to excuse their impatience when they say that (not being personal here). They’re not willing to wait it out until they’ve gotten enough feedback to make a better informed decision. There are plenty of mediums out there, especially after a game releases, to garner information from. There have been quite a few games that I’ve been undecided on and I took the ‘wait and see’ approach until those games were out long enough for me to watch YT, streams, etc. Out of all the games that I decided to wait and watch streams, gameplay vids and etc. I can recall damn few times that I’ve been disappointed by the game if I still decided to get it afterward. I can recall plenty of games that I was disappointed with when I didn’t… H5 being one of them.
I mean 343 is in business. I don’t give credit (or my money) for them “trying to make a better game”. I buy my [not just] Halo games for a Halo experience, not a ‘343 is trying’ experience. With the number of people who stream and YT posts, I have no idea how someone couldn’t get a good idea of whether a game will be worth the money by utilizing them. H:I will be a wait and see for me. Who knows… it might even be on Game Pass… and they’re almost always running some kind of deal with that.

I just hope we can get some new info soon
I’ve spent such a long time replaying the original Bungie games that I have high doubts that a sixty dollar new halo game from 343 will do anything for me. The bar for standards is so great and it feels as though Infinite, no matter how good it may be, will simply pale in comparison. Halo 4 and 5 didn’t exactly build up a fascinating conclusion to their disaster of a trilogy. Remember ‘Finish the Fight’? Lol what is there now?
i hope for the classic artstyle return on halo infinite
and i hope for the best of the best Halo campaign and multiplayer of 343Made
Yeah…I’m still very interested in Infinite but yeah. Once there is more info we can see how it’s goin! At least Forge will probably be great!

This. Get my like, I 100% agree!
I got every main Halo from Bungie and the two Wars titles day one without regrets. However, I always get informed before buying a game and I never pre-order. Frankly I don’t understand why people pre-order a title with six months or more in advance to begin with. I never do and I always get the physical version I want. That doesn’t mean I can’t do stupid decisions as well though…
In my case after seeing H4’s new art style as well as reading about sprint and CoD like mechanics… **Of course I past! …**at least initially. And I should have waited longer and read the forums, but I wanted to give the new team a chance. So after reading a review from a site I trusted, here we’re a week later with me holding a new copy of H4. Damn me that was a mistake!
I gave the game 10 days or less before reselling it, and I rarely get rid of my games.
Three years later H5G came out. This time I trusted my guts and the community a lot more, waited around three more months and got used copy together with a second hand Xone. Honestly? I’m happy I waited. I could test the game for myself without spending a fortune, the companies behind it never saw my money and afterwards I resold everything without a single regret.
It’s sad when a series you love becomes something else you can’t enjoy anymore, but blind trust in ips is never good. Deus Ex does a similar effect to me, but if Eidos one day comes out with a super linear and cinematographic chapter of the gaming series they won’t get my money. I’ll fight my impulse to buy it! Neither should anyone buy the next 343i game just because “Halo” is written on the box. Don’t be part of the problem mates!

The art style seen in the tech demo is the only confirmed news so far!^^
Yeah I’ve already decided I’m not buying Halo: Infinite. The only chance of me even trying it is if its free on game pass. The final straw was when 343 scammed me by removing 80% of the multiplayer content on MCC.
