The reason being is sort of the way Halo 5 Guardians have to turned out.
The great parts I liked were the DLC contents which is good since they had so much planned out but so little time. I’m not on the fence with it should have been there in the beginning but I’m sure there were reasons for that. Warzone was a great concept for a large scale multiplayer and turned out great.
But to these major gripes, here is why I’m not gonna pre-order Halo 6 instantly
Its story. Halo 5’s story threw me off a bit with the way it started out. None of it made any sense. To this day, I have no idea what the first cutscene of the game meant. There is a picture of Miranda Keyes on her desk but her face was taken directly out of Halo 2 Anniversary. And Miranda Keyes uniform led me to believe that it was the cutscene when she was accepting the medal in her father’s name. And I’ll never understand the Cortana model being taken out and what she meant. And an instant death of Jul’Mdama just like that? I would rather see him escape, come back to sanghelios to finish his fight with the Arbiter and of course Halsey would be rescued by Locke. Everything else felt okay.
Armor customization. The lack of a full black undersuit was a bit of a let down, and I’m pretty sure will never come back so there is no hope for it. But really? Armor customization is dumbed down to only Helmet, Armor, and Visor? I have played a ton of Halo 5 guardians to the point where I’m sick of it. It is lacking in so many things and this is one of my major gripes. A user’s true preference on how they really want to look is absolutely gone. Some people want asymmetric armor like how Memories of Reach armors are except for Intruder of course, but not exactly how they look. Like I want to wear the wrath armor with the shoulders switched. And the idea of, people will be wearing all kinds of the different armor is not true. Their main goal is to get the best looking armor and straight up wear it. And those armors are Ultra rare to legendary mythic.
The lack of gamemodes at launch for this game. I know the gamemodes are most likely in development like oddball, king of the hill, juggernaut and what not, but they have to be present in the next game. Sure some gamemodes are similar to now like king of the kill or territories is sort of the same as strongholds, but KoTH is one hill and everyone is trying to kill each other to gain that hill which makes it hilarious. And with the weapon variants and armor abilities we have now it can be much more fun. What I’m saying is they have to be ready when Halo 6 launches.
Map designs. They need to be reasonable, have well located spawns so you don’t get spawn killed instantly, good amount of map size like how truth and regret is. remix maps are hit or miss with some people as some players are okay with it. With the inclusion of sprint, its pretty easy to get to the other side.
The matchmaking system. The only way you can stop players complaining about farming is if you pair the full party 12 man fireteams with another 12 man fireteam. However this is not the case because full fireteams can be with match partial parties and solo players which in my opinion is ridiculous. You will be outmatched and have no idea what to do. Teams should have the same matching as in party member level and skill level with each other. The reason I think why this can’t happen is probably because of the low player count in this game. Another point with the matchmaking system is how players in Arena are being paired with Onyx players. How is that really a test of their skills? Players should be playing in their own division. If they have a smurf account where its a lower rank, well you can’t really do anything about it. But having to know that you were matched with a team of Onyx players when you are a gold player is ridiculous.
Playable elites. I’m a little on and off about this. But in the campaign, I have noticed that when I was playing the Battle of Sunion again because I had nothing else to do, I have noticed that the arbiter was standing really really low. He was hunched over low like to the height of a spartan 4… Got me to think they could be playable if they hunched that low. I like playing as an Elite in the previous halo title because I love feeling like a badass with an energy sword charging at you. At the same time I could see why they are not playable anymore because of height issues, maybe even animations. But in lore aspect they train with Spartans in the simulations? Wait if they are included, why not just have them be like the guards of the middle base instead of marines.
Splitscreen is not much I care about but maybe sometimes a friend wants to try out the game with me before buying it. But wait… There is no splitscreen so how can I really try it out with him. He would have to buy the game on its own or I have to sit next to him and watch him play when I could be playing too and we could both be enjoying it… Its like this game has had a lot of missed opportunities with its customers. They might like it and keep playing with you and before you know it they tell you “Dude I just bought an Xbox and Halo” and I’ll be like “Dude no way”. Its a fun game and its mechanics could use a bit of a touch up like Ground pounding and spartan charge along with the Radar. They could like it so much that they will want to progress on their own.
These are some of the things I have found that were really a letdown. And I’m sure there are other things that other players may have found troublesome. Gameplay mechanics should not be an issue because I think they are balanced. I hear complaints of its too OP or too weak. Gives players no real skills. Honestly if its like that then that means its balanced and its the skill of the player that should be improving not your complaints.
If there are things you want to share that should be in the game, things that can help improve the game. Say it! All of these are just what I find kind of problematic. Please put your feedback on gametypes, improving UI or anything that could help Halo 5 and may improve in Halo 6.
I’ll definitely wait to see how they will implement microtransanctions next game. That and how much multiplayer content it has upon launch will determine if I’ll purchase it
agreed Im waiting too.
and this is comming from someone who THROUGHLY enjoys halo 5,
I dont regret paying full price for TMCC
but I do kinda regret paying full price for halo 5.
The campaign…
id also stay away from waypoint if you want opinions, its going to be full of biased opinions, from those who will love it to death to those who will want it to burn to hell, even if the general census was that it wasn’t good you will be getting people who act like halo (insert number and title here) is the best game ever.

I would agree to some extent on why people prefer the old halo titles. Reach for its improved firefight and the best customization, Halo 3 for its multiplayer and campaign. Not only that the weapon sounds and armor styles were much better. But when it came to core game mechanics it needed to be tweaked. Spartan Charging is a lot better than someone sprinting up to you and meleeing you. You have a chance of missing vs if someone melee you it would home in more. Ground pound was interesting as you had to charge up but huge chance of you getting shot out of the air or completely missing.
also stay away from anything 343i says, do NOT believe a single promotional quote any dev or writer says about halo 6, especially the campagin.
people here seem to forget that 343i themselves lied and twisted the truth about the campagin, you can defend the marketing not being 343i’s doing but when you have Frank O Conor and Brian Reed stating Cortana is dead just before launch, say that Master chief is the character in panick mode when it is said locke is, say Blue team have more dialogue than all their EU appearances, calling halo 5 the darkest halo, saying that the campaign is the longest in the series (at least longer than 4)… i could go on but others can explain it better
The only way I can foresee pre-ordering Halo 6 sight unseen is if 343i announces that they’ve fired the entire dev team for Halo 5 and started with an all new team. I’m trying to grind out for the Achilles helmet (why I have no clue… it’s just Barbie clothes)… But there’s really no other reason why I play this game for hours every week.
I will never pre-order any game. It only sends the message to dev’s that we don’t care what they shovel out, we will buy it. Halo 6 is a looooooong time off. Who knows what I’ll be doing. Not really planning that far ahead.

Halo Wars and Mass Effect 3 were the only games I ever pre-ordered, but they were worth it.
No matter what I will buy Halo 6, just for the campaign, to see how 343 is doing with it. I am not expecting anything on the multiplayer from 343. My decision on the Halo franchise is clear that if Halo 6 fails, I will never buy 343’s Halo game again.

Want my opinion? I think Halo 6 was planned first(story wise), but there was a huge gap missing. Thus Halo 5 was created. I think that not too much effort was put into this gap. I think almost all of the effort was put into Multiplayer and Esports. I still love Halo 5’s campaign though with all of the big side stories. I think Halo 6 will be great, it’s just damaged by the reviews of a different game. I’ll buy Halo 6 the minute it comes out.
I’m thinking the same thing. Unless 343i shows us exactly what we’re getting prior to the release of Halo 6, I’m not pre-ordering. I need to see Firefight- the genuine Firefight we saw in Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach- make a return, with offline play, unlimited rounds, skull progressions, and customization options. They also need to give us some real Social playlists and better armor customization the likes of Halo: Reach and Halo 4, with some armor being unlocked through achievements. Having everything locked behind micro-transactions stinks.
I was lucky for Halo 5. Once saw that Halo 5 wasn’t going to have splitscreen I knew what kind of Halo this was going to be, and just waited for the half-off sale that would come a few months after the release. I will preorder Halo 6 if they say that they have online 4-player splitscreen though, just to support splitscreen.
