Why I won't buy Halo 5.

My biggest gripes with the game:

* The ranking system
While the game isn’t out yet I doubt there is much changing the ranking system looking at 343’s two failed attempts in Halo 4, and Halo MCC. 343 has now had 3 attempts, and they have failed in every one of them to team up players of equal skill. Halo 5 yet again needs a much stricter ranking system.

Two onyx players can for example be the diffrerence between night and day in terms of skill level.

* Sprint
What I hate the most about sprint is the fact that you can’t run at full speed and shoot at the same time. You are getting punished with removal of speed, because you are trying to push. Let’s use bigship as an example: If someone is P3:

 • You can choose to try to sprint up there.
 • You can walk with the ability shoot (And try to strafe with your turtle-walking speed against the super aim assist of this game).
 • You can hold back behind cover and try to battle it out, thus slowing down the game.

In Halo 5 the third option is the best option. Knowing when to, and when not to sprint is a basic skill every player can learn within the first few matches of understanding and learning the maps.

* The small skill gap
-Too much aim assist
-Too fast average kill times
-Too big hitboxes
-Turtle strafing speed

How can you make me buy Halo 5?

 • Stricter ranking system with more ranks. Why even have 1500 rating points for Semi-Pro? So everyone can get there evntually and let everyone play against everyone?
 • Remove sprint but add the illusion of it sprint instead. While Smart Scope isn’t exactly just an Illusion of instant scope, it is very close to the original and is thus ok. Some weapons needs increase in zoom-time, such as the Sniper for example.

Create the illusion of sprint:
Animation: Looks like you are sprinting = Moving the analog sprint as much as possible
Animation: Looks like you are jogging = Moving the analog stick middle
Animation: Looks like you are walking = Move the analog stick just a little bit
While sprinting, jogging or walking, you shoot or/and zoom(as fast as smart scope allows you to) instantly.

Up the base movement speed to the equivelant of the sprinting speed that Halo 5 now. Thus the maps and jumps scales perfectly. This will give you much more immersion than what the current system gives and is balanced.

 • Remove lots of aim magnetism

 • Decrease hitboxes

 • Link thrusters to health. You can only thrust while having over 50% health.

 • Remove Slide, and Shoulder Charge. They barrely have any effect on multiplayer, and only take up buttons.

Changes = Halo game with the illusion of new mechanics: such as sprint(Endless sprinting) and ADS(Semi-Illusion), while innovating with real new mechanics such as clamber, thruster, and stabilizers, new weapons and new maps.

While I don’t know how Master chiefs armour work this could be a lore reasoning for one my changes:

“Link thrusters to health. You can only thrust while having over 50% health.”

The armour cannot waste power or whatever on thrusters and has to put everything it has into keeping the spartan alive.

Good choice dude.

Buy a PS4.

Now that xbox doesn’t have Halo there’s no real reason to buy an Xbox.

True. Except maybe Fable?

Xbox One does have Halo… it’s called Halo MCC and Halo 5 Guardians. Feels like Halo to me and many other people. But that’s just me.

Even if you aren’t a fan of H5 multiplayer, (which i respect) don’t you at least want to play the campaign? After all, based from my experience, Halo campaigns take more skill than almost every other shooter games (FPS or TPS) because it’s far more difficult. And that’s what makes it super fun and replayable.

Then add the amazing story, cool characters, breathtaking sceneries, interesting lore to delve into, phenomenal soundtrack (Kazuma Jinnouchi), and just the overall intriguing universe of Halo.

lol

I’ve played like eight hours of the beta so far. I did sincerely try to give it an unbiased chance before judging it.

It’s a decent compromise game and that’s exactly how it feels, but it’s nothing special and it definitely doesn’t “feel like Halo”.

Some of my random thoughts (I might actually make a detailed feedback thread later):

The sandbox feels very balanced. I really don’t get all these ___ is ____ complaints.
Spartan Abilities are largely unused. The only two that actually come into play in any significant amount are Thrust and Sprint.
Thrust does add an interesting dynamic to gameplay, but it’s not all beneficial. Needs tweaked to be more offensive and less defensive.
The map design is just as terrible as it was in Halo 4, not really a fan of the city aesthetic either. I blame Sprint for the terrible maps.
The visual and audio feedback (shield recharge meter, thruster recharge meter, hit sounds, etc) is all very well done and an improvement over the previous titles.
I disagree that it “has no skillgap”. Really I think the skill gap is pretty significant, even if not quite on par with other titles.

Bottom line though, I honestly have more fun in Halo Ce or Halo 2 Anniversary (when I can find a non-laggy game…) than I do in the Halo 5 Beta.

Will I be buying this game? I don’t really know.

weve heard you whining countless times before, you just keep saying the same stuff over and over.
also you complain about too much aim assist. Halo 5 has barely any aim assist, it has less than all previous Halo titles, baring CE and even then its close, it also has a pretty large skill gap

It has almost no aim assist, but it does have pretty extreme levels of magnetism.

I figured you wouldn’t be buying it, but thanks for telling us what you won’t be doing with your money. To be honest, this thread is really just a rehash of a lot of the other threads you’ve already made.

I really do wish people would stop entertaining this fallacy until heavy proof is provided.

Have you played the beta yourself?

I’m saying this from experience playing the game myself. I’ve received headshots aiming at the chest like in Halo 2, or aiming away from the head.
