Why I think the Magnum/Flag combo isn't bad

People have been complaining about the Magnum/Flag combo ruining teamwork in CTF.
However, if you think about it, there wasn’t any teamwork in CTF anyway, mostly. People would just rush into the enemy base, the ones that reach the flag grab it and run out and the rest of the team just does their own thing. In most cases, the flag-carrier ends up on his own without being able to use a weapon.

Now, the use of the Magnum gives the Flag-Carrier a chance to survive without a radnom teammate showing up on a Mongoose and picking him up.

If anything, the Magnum/Flag combo actually adds some teamwork as the enemy team has to work together to track down the person who stole their flag and hunt him. And if they hunt your flag-carrier, you will want to get him out there safely forcing your team to work together as well.

A less important factor is that it is more realistic this way. What super-soldier wouldn’t be able to carry a flag in one hand and a Magnum in the other?

I may not have the best points and I may not know much of what is best for Halo, but I think the Magnum/Flag combo is fine and it won’t break CTF.

Besides, its not like the flag carrier is holding a power weapon.

Its a 6 shot magnum. Not very powerful or useful. Its used for finishing off kills, not all out solo defense.
You’ll be outgunned in almost every situation.

People will complain about everything that doesn’t look like the old games. They forget 343i is building this Halo, not Bungie.

I love the idea, like the guy above said it isn’t a power weapon. So far 343i has done nothing but impress me.

Exactly. It doesn’t make much of a difference against a BR, DMR, AR, SR and other weapons.

The magnum is a 6sk weapon with an 8 bullet mag and some how the ability to carry this with the flag is going to ruin CTF? People need to stop, it doesn’t make sense and it won’t hurt CTF at all. Hopefully what it will do is to promote going for the flag.

You can probably toggle it on and off anyway.

Makes sense to me OP. This addition will definitely get me playing for the objective now.

Agreed, even though i rarely play CTF, I did always wonder why i couldn’t shoot when i got the flag. And like you said, whenever i got the flag, there was no one around to help.

People like to complain about the smallest things. I love this change, and am excited to see how it impacts CTF. Where the people got the idea that the flag carrier is now a walking tank just baffles me.

Its nice to expand the game to give us more options, and i have nothing against it.

I do however hope there is still an option for the classic CTF i know and love. I would still prefer a defenseless carrier, as a customs option, if not a gametype.

They said that the Classic playlist is back which leads me to the conclusion that you will be able to choose between turning the Magnum/Flag combo on and off. But I can’t guarantee it.

What is more exiting?

Feel shots to your back, turn a corner, spin around, smack enemy with flag

Or

Hopelessly spray an underpowered, blooming pistol

Which is more exiting?

Strong siding in between flag juggles while you rely on your team to stay alive

Or

Hoping to pick off one shot enemies as you trudge through mashed potatoes while everyone else sprints

Flag Juggling > Pistol Flag

Has it been confirmed that juggling isn’t possible anymore? Or is one jumping to conclusions?

I see no reason why they shouldn’t have some way of defending yourself besides hoping to beat someone with the flag while jumping your way back to the base…

So you concede that the pistol is mostly useless, yet hope that it’s inclusion in CTF will boost objective populations. Fanboy logic is sound logic.

And I see no reason why we have to rely on teammates for rides. Why can’t you hop in a Warthog and drive the flag to your base?

Which is more exciting?

Feel shots to your back, turn a corner, spin around, and realize there is no enemy there to smack and your face became the victim of a headshot

Or

Having a pistol equipped while you run away with the flag, having some kind of a chance as you panic slightly while smirking because you know you just took a risk by stealing their flag and can shoot anyone who dare comes near you, hiding behind cover to reload your magnum or running because you can’t take a chance on refilling your weapon’s ammo

Yeah, I can compare two statements and make it persuasively one-sided too.

Unfortunately your opinion doesn’t necessarily rate it’s own thread.

Please stick to the current megathread for this subject. Thanks.
