Why I think no Split Screen annoys fans VERY MUCH.

This is simple, for some Odd reason video game companies pay special attention to the part of the Community who does not want split screen. Why though?

Why do most Halo Fans (I think) want split screen? For one it is part of the Charm of the Halo Franchise. Why remove it? It was a great feature that should never be removed from any video game series unless it actually causes problems. I have so many memories from playing split screen. It is very fun.

Why do I think Video Game companies pay so much attention to those who say split screen is useless or just do not want it? I think the video game companies are thinking of money, meaning if they remove split screen more people will want to play online multiplayer more often, resulting in the purchase of Xbox Live. I believe it’s Xbox Live promotion. I’m just saying that I know Halo support and community is very good, but of course a company will think of money, it has to have it to function correctly.

Also, there should not be that much graphical limit on a console that advertises nearly no graphical limits within reason. I don’t believe 343 Industry’s explanation that they had limits and that’s why they couldn’t include split screen, which I’ve heard a lot.

I find myself wondering if this is because Halo is changing. I saw the teen rating, so did they just decide to change some things such as Split Screen just because they were changing other things?

I want Split Screen back, if 343 cannot do it in Halo 5, at least do it in Halo 6.

Personally, I love split screen, and think it is an important part of the Halo Franchise. Remember playing as the arbiter in Halo 3? I feel split screen is more comfortable and way more reliable than Xbox Live, though I still like playing Halo on Xbox Live on occasion.

Other than this rant, I think that Halo 5 multiplayer and Campaign looks awesome. I can’t wait to play it.

Keep up the good work 343, and please listen to the Community. I respect all the effort you put into your games. Just please keep split screen in your games.

Why do people want it back? Nostalgia pure and simple. Had a friend of mine complaining that split screen was removed and he couldn’t believe it. I asked him when the last time he actually played any game split screen in the last 5 years and he couldn’t remember any. He admitted maybe he didn’t need it anymore since him, myself, and all of our friends who used to play split screen years ago all have families and kids now and the chances of any of us getting together for a lan party and lugging over a bunch of high dollar LED TV’s and xbox’s is laughable at best.

Why don’t you believe 343i reasons for not including split screen? It seems you must be a professional programmer/engineer who has a full understanding of the xbox ones architecture to be making such claims.

Thats your situation though the option shouldnt of been removed, plus a new game shouodnt remove liked features from the previous game. Its oathetic to think that the ‘next gen’ consoles can run a game at 60fps by default. 343 shouldnt need to be doing all of this technical mastery to achieve the 60fps by removing splitscreen.

If my mid-high range PC can run killing floor 2 on ultra with nvidia flex on 60fps when its capped then the next ten consoles should be able to run halo 5 at 60fps with full 4 player splitscreen.

Honestly I hate split screen. Playing in the half of your screen just feels weird.
But having said that, my little cousin came around, who became a Halo fan because of me, wanted to play Halo 5 with me. I promised to him we could play on friday after his school so the kid was so excited he came the next day with so much joy and wanted to play with me. I started the game he was smiling and all and it hit me then…there is no split screen. The disappointment on his face…

Halo = split screen.

  1. Get a job.
  2. Buy your own XBOX ONE / HALO 5 game / TV / XBOX LIVE.
  3. Profit.

That, however, is not the case as is evident with the low power “next-gen” consoles. Quite frankly, 60 FPS is required as the engine is built around it so much so that even resolution is sacrificed to maintain constant FPS no matter what. Splitscreen 60 FPS? Not happening. I doubt they can reduce each screen to 30 FPS since the engine is literally designed with 60 in mind. Watch the interviews/sprints for proof of what I am saying. I myself cannot remember the last time I used splitscreen and honestly even if I did I would not give up 60 FPS for anything especially now that Halo is much more fast paced.

I did like split screen occasionally but felt I was always worse because I could hear the other player’s screen and it threw me off. But the option would be nice.

I love how in your argument you actually promote the use of split screen. You say you aren’t likely to lug over a big LED TV and your own Xbox…but you wouldn’t have to if Halo has split screen. You’d be MUCH more likely to play Halo together at the same house if all you had to do was drive over for a few hours. HAHAHA Good argument!

Also, who are you to say it’s nostalgia? I can tell you I haven’t touched a Halo game in the past 3 years unless one of my good friends was over. I’ve got 5 guys I’ve played Halo with over the last 8-10 years, some I met a long time ago, and others I met in the last 4 years. But Halo has never been about single-screen for me or my friends. It’s about sharing memories, it’s about tag-teaming in a warthog to capture a flag while pointing at the screen to show each other directions, it’s about having everyone together in the same room, on the same screen, for hours of Halo.

And no, he doesn’t have to be a programmer to understand the flaws in 343’s excuses. How come Black Ops 3, which comes out soon, supports online split screen? And how come 343 told us Halo 4’s poor graphics when using split screen were because they “pushed the limits of the Xbox 360”, but when MCC came out, the split screen issues were still just as prevalent?

What would you have said if MCC didn’t have it? I think because of the MCC people expected that to be the bar a d H5 to be above it…not take things away from the core…

I haven’t used split-screen since before Halo 2 and the advent of Xbox LIVE. Even before that my friends still HATED split-screen, we’d haul our Xboxes and TVs over to a friends house and do LAN parties. The last time I seriously enjoyed split-screen was on the N64, as soon as I could I grew out of that -Yoink-. I can get why some people might miss it but I’m surely not one of them, having a small fraction of a screen is annoying and hard to enjoy.

One amazing thing about no split-screen in Halo 5 is there are no longer games plagued with “SOMEKID2003” and his two guests ruining your slayer games anymore.

I just remember having my friends coming around with their controllers and we’d play halo reach forge and just fly around and blow everything up.

I used to use split screen for campaign co op and firefight. Last time I used it was like a year ago. For holidays I have friends over and often we do co op game runs. Kinda sad I won’t be able to do that with the new game.

Not completely on topic. I have my own Xbox, I’ve owned Xbox Live over the years, I have a TV, and so do most of the people who have played split screen with me. This is about Split Screen being included or not included.

Also not to mention the fact that Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3 and even Halo 4 don’t require an Internet connection to play LAN.

I remember playing as the Arbiter in Halo 2, the Nostaglia is real.

I still regularly play split screen. It’s not only Nostalgia, but Nostalgia is part of it, which is a reason why Halo should always have Split Screen.

I have to admit, I took it for granted that Halo 5 would have split screen, and I didn’t know until after the game came out that it didn’t. The thing one should note is that I took it for granted that split screen would come back. I mean, it’s not something you would announce if you were making a game, but it shouldn’t have been announced, because split screen should not have been removed. Why would they just do this like it is nothing? A large part of the Community wants split screen.

And also, as I said, I believe they could run a game like Halo 5 on split screen, why could they run the master chief collection on split screen? I mean, I know they’re older but the updated graphics are amazing. I’ve played Halo 2 anniversary, and I’ve never had an experience like it, the 60 fps made it seem unnaturally fast, it made me uncomfortable, but it was awesome.

Also, for those taking about small screens and small TVs; Some people own large tvs, and some people don’t care about how small their TV is, I’ve played split screen on a large TV, it is not awkward at all, it is like two whole screens.

ALSO, What about all those glitches we found on split screen in the past Halo games? What now? No more things like flying the seraph on Split screen, no more piloting Phantoms or Pelicans, no more fun glitches that were a part of the split screen experience.

Yes, most people want split screen, because split screen is an additional feature and more features are always great to have. IDK anyone who would just knowingly turn down additional value. However, most people don’t actually use split screen in a meaningful way, so when the devs are looking to improve the rest of the game, it’s up on the chopping block.

They “removed” it because in their evaluations it was non-critical, and even a hindrance.

People are upset because they disagree.
