Here’s the thing, Halo 4 is a great and fun game. It is easy to pick up and play. But I think thats where the problem lies:
There is no challenge to the game!
Think of it this way; you are given too many things in this game. Power weapons, great starting weapons, weapons to take out vehicles, and sticky grenades. I get what 343 was trying to do but in some cases they took too much liberty with the game.
I mean you have everything you need at spawn. Vehicle map? Get your DMR or BR, your Plasma Pistol and Sticky Grenades and you are set for anything. What ever happened to getting these weapons on the map?
This is the problem for many i suspect. There is no real map control with random ordinance drops. Things need to have a set spawn and a respawn timer. No more of this Ordinance Drop crud, we need weapons on the map that don’t reward bad players.
I would even go so far as to say remove the Plasma Pistol and Stickies from the Loadout selection. Makes the player way too powerful at spawn. Either that or make vehicles stronger to compensate. I mean a player can spawn with two Stickies and destroy a Warthog with them.
One last little rant: who is the jack -Yoink- that decided a Mongoose and the Warthog should have the same health? It takes two Stickies to destroy both vehicles… how is that right?
I agree the starting loadouts are a bit much. They should be toned down somehow. I don’t think every single playlist should use our custom loadouts, because like you said we will of course prepare ourselves with what we need.
There are so many times when I get an ordinance drop, look at the options, and I think “Why would I want any of these when I already have a DMR, a Plasma Pistol, and 2 plasma grenades?” So then I just select whatever I think is the least powerful and don’t pick it up.
The main thing I’m disliking about personal ordinance is how rare it seems for me to get some weapons I would enjoy using, like the Binary Rifle. I got that once today while I was surrounded by the enemy team basically. I got lucky and escaped from them with it!
And then sprint’s momentum made me fall off the cliff on Longbow into the water, so I didn’t get to use the Binary Rifle. Maybe I will get it once tomorrow! But since you only rarely get weapons you want to use, its not like you can get good at using them anyway. So I’ll probably miss most or all of my shots the next fateful time I get to use the Binary Rifle again.
Swat is my favorite play list, but i dont play it as often as id like since i like getting the daily challenges done. Just noticed today that theres a KOTH daily challenge, but no KOTH playlist anymore lmao.
Anyways my point is, i havent played in a few days, which makes me rusty, i was trying for pistol kills, which imo leaves me with half as much accuracy as my normal dmr, oh and i was playing on harvest for the first time.
If you look at my KD im not amazing when it comes to it, because i tend to work on challenges and muck about a bit too much. At best id say my ratio would be a consistent 1.5, 1 for 1 is good enough for me. But amongst all this i got away with 20 kills 3 assists n 11 deaths.
I dont mind being at the top of the leader board for a game, when i feel i truly deserve to bet there that is.
Now considering all the odds stacked up against me, and still placing at thte top with the closest competitor being on my team with 19 1 n 12, what ever match making or lack thereof we have is just a joke.
On the subject of map control, why do people claim that random ordinance ruins it?
It takes more skill to coordinate and react to a changing environment than simply memorizing where stuff is because you played the map a dozen times, and controlling the best positions to shoot/snipe from, hold/defend/otherwise interact with an objective, etc. is as viable and important as before.
they should make power weapons come down in the stupid ordinance but announce it to everyone using the announcer, and have a countdown timer so that the entire 2 teams are aware that an ACTUAL power weapon is coming and migrate their to fight for it…I’m not talking scattershot’s and needler’s make snipers/rockets/cannons come down and make it so people actually fight for the weapons like other halo games.
right now ordinance weapons sometimes just land in front of me that’s really the only time I get the global ones…
