Why? I don't understand this.

Why am I playing a 120+ rank with a k/d spread of 2.5+ in every game mostly? I really don’t understand the Halo 4 ranking system. 20 ranks ago I could easily get 20 kills a game and now I’m lucky to reach 10. I suck and my k/d is awful. Why are these people getting matched up with me???

They probably splitscreen/party with a friend the same highskill as you.

If they are, shouldn’t they be matched up with the higher rank instead of the lower one? Just doesn’t make sense…

  1. It has nothing to do with the SR rank. You are playing SR-130 players, but that literally has no indication of their skill level.

  2. You say that you used to get 20 kills a game? Then your hidden trueskill must have gone up. The game determined that you were too good to play against the people you were playing against, so it’s matching you against better players. Ideally, in a game to 60, every player should have 15 kills. Maybe the trueskill system bumped you up too far, which is why you’re getting fewer than that?

  3. It could be the splitscreen/party issue that was mentioned before. In my experience (I have no proof whatsoever), you will play against the ranks of the party leader. So if the party leader is a low rank, while his friends in the party are high, you will play against low people. Again, I have no proof of this being true, but my experience hasn’t really let me down.

Yeah, I guess the party leader thing makes sense. And the trueskill system seems like a good idea, but I honestly do feel a little cheated. My k/d has really started to spiral in the last 10 or 20 games. But who knows. I just needed to rant and vent a little. Thanks for the reply.
