It saddens me that this is the first Halo i did not purchase on launch day (besides Halo CE. played that at my uncles months after it came out and it is what made me buy an Xbox). Anyway i just couldn’t justify the purchase and didn’t like the changes that were being made but once they announced there was no longer split screen that was the deal breaker. Me and my brother could no longer purchase it at midnight and stay up all night beating the campaign via split screen. Long story short this is a full list of why i didn’t and still wont purchase Halo 5. (Also i have played the campaign and probably 10 matches of multiplayer at my brothers house.)
-No Split Screen
-No Offline Support
-No Proper Big Team Battle (including near nonexistent vehicle play)
-Lack of Game Modes( I know they added more and its about up to par with previous Halos but was still a reason to not purchase in my book. Oddball?)
-Uninspiring Multiplayer Maps
-Sprint( I am almost okay with the spartan abilities, at least the idea of them but sprint should not be in halo)
-Not Enough CHIEF
-REQ System( not so much that i think its pay to win or that i don’t like the idea of the reg system but more of the fact i think its 343’s way to make more money and the reason BTB is lacking and not a proper game mode any more so people will play war zone to get their BTB fix and maybe spend some money)
( On a side note the campaign was awful, i couldn’t even bring myself to finish it at my brothers. It is not the reason i didn’t buy the game at launch bc no one knew how good or bad it would be but is one of the reasons i still don’t purchase Halo)
So there is my list. If there is anyone out there that still hasn’t purchased Halo let me know why or if you disagree let me know why. (By the way this is not to bash 343 in anyway considering it is probably very hard to be a game creator and to be given a game the caliber of Halo and try to meet and exceed expectations is in my mind a tough task)
Proven Wrong:
-Vehicle play seems nonexistent now( I could be wrong about this so if so please let me know and i will remove from the list)
-Story relies too much on out of the game sources
-TTK ( The time to kill seems shorter. Idk if it is but it sure seems like it and if i am wrong i will remove this from the list)
-ADS
I agree with you. I did get Halo 5 because I was hyped for it. I decided to give them a third chance in which I now regret. Halo 5 is terrible, and I will not get Halo 6 even if it’s the greatest yet. These games are not worth $60.00 or my time. There are too many other games with better graphics, better gameplay, better mechanics, better maps, better customization, more game modes, better story, better content, and more. If Halo 6 is $30.00 at launch, I’ll get it.
No oddball, regicide, KoTH, dominion, true BTB, and a LOT MORE. Not worth my time and money.
Games been out for almost a year, why are you posting this now?
Why are you here if you don’t like the game? And why does everyone act like $60 is soooo much money for a game? $60 is nothing for what you’re getting. People drop that in restaurants like every day and don’t think anything of it, but if they’re paying for a game all of a sudden it’s so much money. It’s annoying.

I love Halo. I am here explaining why i haven’t and still wont purchase it and that reason is out of principle for removing too many key features that made Halo Halo. Its not the price at all. Also i stated im not here to bash 343 if you read my whole post. I was posting this to maybe have a good conversation and not to get in dumb fan boy fights.
Maybe i should change the title to " Why i didn’t buy Halo 5 and what would be peoples deal breaker to not buy Halo 6"? I’m not here to start fanboy wars.

I think he has a point though. You’re not bringing anything new to the table. It’s tough for anyone here who plays the game to listen to criticism from some who doesn’t own it and hasn’t put enough time in to get a good judgement of the game.
I agree the campaign sucks and the game was barebones at launch, however, it’s pretty fleshed out now in terms of game modes. Also, you must not have played much warzone. Vehicle play is huge in that game mode.

See there we go a nice and respectful response. I will remove vehicle play from the list and this isn’t a thread for why i don’t play the game or why i hate the game, its a thread for why i didn’t buy it. They may be similar but not the same. This is good criticisms of why i didn’t buy the game and maybe we can figure out reasons why other Halo lovers didn’t buy the game which i think is necessary for the games survival. To figure out why the Halo population is maybe dropping?
and maybe just maybe if we get enough crossed off my list with good and valuable reasons why they should be crossed off maybe ill go buy the game. The first one crossed off is Vehicle play.
The irony is that the only thing I have to object to on your list is that “the campaign draws too much from outside sources.” It doesn’t. Warden does not exist in any other Halo media besides Halo 5, and the Domain was previously mentioned in Halo 4. Jul M’dama was killed immediately, and the Didact was knocked out of play in the comics anyways, so no go on the two EU Baddies. Not a single plot thread, besides the existence of Blue Team (who honestly have existed before Halo CE even released), required someone to pick up a book. And you know what? I’m pissed. They took everything they had set up with Halo 4 and its related media, the Didact, the Janus Key, Jul M’dama, the Human “Great Schism,” and plenty of other intriguing plot threads were all flushed down the drain to make Cortana the generic AI “all shall be made perfect” bad guy. Oh, but wait, Halsey is actually a “monster”, while Cortana is just making “choices that people don’t agree with” (both quotes come directly from Brian Reed and Frank O’Connor, the former of which is also responsible for writing both the Absolute Record and the Didact out of play).

Well said. Like… Straight up my thought process.

Then i will remove that from the list unless someone otherwise can prove you wrong. That’s 2 off the list

Pretty yea lol. H4 has no relevance to h5 at all. And even tho some say if you read the books/comics to better understand h5, it’s really minimal. To me it’s bad story telling if even halo “vets” don’t fully comprehend the story. Generally each game built right off the previous one, h5 is the first one that completely just destroy everything prior to it. Cortana being dead means nothing now (and you (343) made my favorite character in cortana not only be brought back, but you made her a villain! <;( ), we don’t get to see chief “gain his humanity” anymore, Janus key is scrapped, list goes on.
Why would we care if you purchase it or not? Let alone your reasons as to why you didn’t purchase it. Do you care why I bought a car and not a truck?
Only responses you’ll get here are people who defend the game. You made the right choice. This isn’t Halo.

If we were on a Automobile form and you listed your reasoning for purchasing a car and not a truck than ya maybe. Maybe you would sway someones decision to buy said car instead of a truck and maybe give the truck makers some ideas on what they could add to a truck in order to get people to buy a truck instead of a car. So in the right form and in the right context yes. If you came up to me in public and i didn’t know you and you explained your reasons for buying a car instead of a truck, then no. But in the right context yes.

All of which I’m placing the blame for solely on Frank O’Connor and Brian Reed.

Actually, vehicle play in BTB is near nonexistent but warzone has a healthy number of vehicles in it, other than that no other mode has vehicles.

I will update it to include Vehicles in the no proper BTB

It says halo on the game case.
