Why I can barely play Halo 5 right now

Here it is. I have to put these thoughts down in hopes that those at 343 will at least think about what is being said here.

I have been a Halo fan ever since Halo 2. I have even endured the nonsense that was Halo Reach, and Halo 4, and still had a very good time (most of the time). So why can’t I get into Halo 5? It largely comes down to just a few things.

1. Radar Range is too short. I am tired of getting Spartan charged in the back, or shot at from people I didn’t have any clue were even in the area just moments before. If I played with people all the time and each of us used every single call out, than it probably wouldn’t be as bad. Most of the time I play alone, (and I will explain that in a minute), so getting all of those call outs just isn’t going to happen.

2. I prefer to play alone in H5. I do have tons of friends online, and we used to play together all the time, but not so much these days. I think this is largely due to the fact that every playlist is ranked. Even BTB is ranked, and my guess is that this weekends playlist of Rumble Rockets will also be ranked, which will be out right silly if they do it. So because EVERY playlist is ranked we have become separated. I personally don’t want to be the anchor that brings the team the loss, and I think others feel very similar to that. So we tend to stay in our own separate areas and play by ourselves.

Plus after a hard day of work, I don’t want to jump on a game and go all hard core every match. I want to relax and have some fun with friends. With every playlist as ranked, that just isn’t going to happen. So again, I just end up playing alone.

I do like the ranking system, it is very simple to understand, however it should not be our only option. A social playlist would be very nice to have.

  1. Okay, so I don’t like playing ranked, why don’t I go play Warzone. Big Team games just aren’t my thing, never have been, never will be. Plus it just isn’t fun to call in your Req, only to be killed by some sniper about as soon as you walk out a door. If Warzone gets some more game modes, and maps I would be willing to try it again. As it is though, “No Thanks.” I don’t want to play for 18 minutes straight of getting spawn trapped, or spawn trapping the other team.

Halo 5’s sandbox is incredible, the only problem is that it isn’t being utilized all that great.

At least in Dec, I can start forging…

"Devastating" You’re acting like a -Yoinking!- tsunami just hit.

The OP makes some good points. Instead of being a -Yoinking!- -Yoink- hair to everyone give the guy a chance. That is the entire point of the message boards assfucker.

It kinda did. Lol.

Anyways, to OP:
Radar range actually isn’t as short as you think. The reason it feels short is because people can sprint at you so much faster, and the map design.
The maps are so small in arena, that if they increased it to normal range, it could cover like half the map. So, basically, they’re have a hard time balancing sprint/thrusters, maps, and radar.

I agree about the whole ranking system. I hate feeling like I have to go hardcore in every game, and I hate Warzone.

  1. I’ve only played nine matches of H5 4v4, but I can completely concur with your assertion that the radar is useless. At first I was annoyed, but now I suspect that this was done intentionally since the more competitive players seem to prefer no radar at all. Maybe this is their way of compromising?

  2. I completely agree. There’s so much attention given to Spartan Companies and team play that the creators have failed to notice how they’re letting down the casual solo players - players who, I suspect, are still the vast majority of the player base.

  3. I can understand if big team play isn’t your thing. There’s a reason I’ve only played nine matches of 4v4. I hate it. Deeply. So I get it. I really do. But if you’re really laboring under the belief that all warzone matches are gigantic spawn traps then you only played one match, and it didn’t go well, and now you don’t want to go back because you think that every warzone match will be exactly the same. I know that’s what you’re thinking because that’s exactly what I think of 4v4. The difference is that all 4v4 matches really are exactly the same, and every warzone match is different. You should try it again. Just try it. It’s not so bad. And if it turns out that I’m wrong and it really is that bad, don’t worry. Social play lists are right around the corner.

Yeah seriously.
