Halo 5’s online community may do well because…
- This is the first new Halo game this current gen, therefore the most hype + potential system seller
- free DLC map packs may have player stay to see what Halo 5 offers
- REQ items may be addictive enough to retain players
Halo 5’s online community may not do well because…
- Halo 4 had the smallest online community short term + long term compared to 2, 3, and Reach, the ones who left went onto Destiny, BF, CoD, etc.
- 343’s handling of MCC lost the trust of many long time fans.
- Halo 5’s Arena mode may turn [casual] gamers off from the eSports vibe (and thus may turn to battlefront instead of Halo’s Warzone)
- lack of splitscreen support may have people just play MCC instead
- CoD BLOPSIII releases less than a month later (and has splitscreen)
- SW Battlefront releases less than a month later (and has splitscreen)
- the lack of info on future playlists and the delay of BTB may mean the casual community (who think the game is only Warzone/Arena) will leave
- people may simply just be burnt out from Halo altogether
