Who honestly uses it in Reach? IMO it is the most worthless AA in Reach. The only way to make its comeback plausible is to make it less “phoney”.
If any of you have played the Crysis 2 BETA (no, I havnt played MM in the actual game) then you would know that the hologram attachment was actually usefull; it looked real, it looked around instead of just facing straight, and if you were crouching it would walk forward while crouching.
I thought the hologram was pretty cool in Reach. The only downside to it was that it couldn’t be used in as many situations as the other Armour Abilities could, plus I always use Sprint in Reach. I’ll probably use it more in Halo 4 seeing as we can have both Sprint and another AA.
Holograms had potential in Halo Reach and I think 343 is bringing them back so that they can utilise that potential and make the Holograms more useful.
It’s too cheap to use in campaign. The AI are programmed to fall for it every single time.
I would have liked messing with them like I did in CE instead of merely distracting them.
Think about it. Covies see 2 Master Chiefs. Holy -Yoink- moment, amirite marines? Mass Grunty panic, Elites berserking, and Brutes chuck grenades at it only to end up sticking their comrades. Incredible mischief, enhanced impact on enemies if player was holding a power weapon (i.e. energy sword).
I know it looks stupid, but you should see ME use hologram. You just have to figure out
the strategy, and it’s easy since no one uses it. I’ve gotten so many cheap kills with
that thing.
But I agree, they need to make it look more convincing, Bungie just didn’t want it to be
OP.
Hologram is more of a tactic and it does work very well at least when it showed up as a red dot instead of gray ( if they switched it back to red then sorry ). The only time I find it useful is if the other time has a power weapon you can get them to waste 1-2 rocks or snipes before they figure it out, I think this is mostly what it was designed for not so much for tricking in 1v1 battles but it’s funny if you get them with it. In Halo 4 if they make it were it can sprint would make it alittle more " real " and it could work better. But it doesn’t bother me that it’s making a return I think hologram is the least hated on AA.
I’ve got a few good film clips not currently on file share. Here are some uses I’ve personaly put into practice:
Lifts or Teleporter Lures – Just make sure the holo’s back is facing the direction of the person. They think they’re getting a free assassination. No, you are.
Misdirection – I remember an instance at the dead end of a hallway when an enemy was charging my location with a teammate across from me. I sent my hologram his way and took the advantage to kill the enemy without being in the crosshairs. My friend died…his sacrifice was not in vain.
Doubling – Walk along side of my hologram when traversing open terain. Increases my chances of surviving enemy fire before I reach cover.
Intimidation – Have a sword? Send your hologram into an enemy area and pick off the targets that fall for the hologram. Make persuers back off when they see that pretty sword dangling in your holoman’s hand.
Oh how I wish Bungie’s rendering were still working. I’d put it up now.
This. You have to be tactical to make people fall for it.
I don’t think they should make it more real, then games will just be full of people using a hologram and then the other person being tricked most of the time. That would be more torture than playing Call of Duty for me… Make it worse than Reach’s if anything.
I use it all the time, and people fall for it quite a bit. It’s really entertaining. I was really happy to find out it’s coming back in Halo 4. I do wish they would make it a bit more believable, though.
