I don’t know why I got demoted. I was an eclipse and was about to be the rank after that and when I got enough credits I went back to noble.
I know the most common reason for this is a punishment for cheating but I did not cheat. I also know that if someone in the game is cheating even on the other team you can get in trouble if the think you were with them.
That said the only reason I can think of that I got demoted for was on5/28/12 about 18:18:28 USA central time I was playing BTB Heavies for 0:15:21(I saved this in theater mode and am reading it from their) I faced against REDACTED. Yes its now 8/26/2012 but it took me that long to get to where I could level up.
He or she was definitely hacking. The most obvious thing he did showing he was a hacker was while in armor lock he moved to the left maybe 5 to 10 feet before exiting armor lock.
Again the only reason I can think of for getting demoted was that I was facing off against him while he was moding or hacking.
If anyone can help me fix this so I can get my rank back I would be greatly grateful.

Did you get any messages about a punishment?
If you didn’t see any messages about a punishment, then it may have just been some sort of glitch in the system. :\

Modding and hacking are handled by Xbox LIVE, not by Bungie or 343 Industries. The punishment for modding is a permanent gamertag and console ban from Xbox LIVE – not a reduction in one’s Halo: Reach credits. Since you’re still able to access LIVE, I think you’re in the clear.
Yes I can still access Xbox live. Is there any way to fix this. Again I apogize for calling someone out and it won’t happen again i was not thinking. and no i did not recieve any messages for punishment.
The progression system in Reach makes it technically impossible for partial demotions. If you were demoted, you would have been kicked all the way back to recruit (this practice was completely discontinued after 343i took over from Bungie).
What you experienced was likely some sort of time-delayed glitch or other technical hiccup.
Your best bet would be to custom challenge boost, which is the best way to rank up anyway.

Ok so I was a high rank about noble ish and my Xbox live ran out and I was fine then I renewed my Xbox live and it reset me completely I just really want my rank back and funny thing is I looked at my achievements and I still have the “get to rank captain” and I’m warrant officer grade 3 so it’s kind of confusing My GT is C1 Victor S101
