So I’m really curious on why to even have a ranking system besides to put people against you in your skill tier level. The only reason I bring this up is because in every game people also talked about how the want a ranking system.
It allows people to monitor their skill progression.
I simply don’t understand the reason for having a ranking system in place when your rank keeps getting reset.

It’s so that it stays up to date with your current skill level. I can’t play Halo 3 ranked any more because now I’m much worse at the game and I’m ranked too high. Also if it didn’t reset almost everyone would eventually work their way to Onyx and the whole system would become pointless.

I prefer to remain at my assigned rank as I have earned it. If I were not fit to hold said rank then I would eventually drop down. It’s a pain and is extremely annoying to have to work your way back up to where you are meant to be. It causes me to lose motivation to try to reach a higher rank as I have now spent a considerable amount of time grinding to reclaim my title which could have been time spent dedicated to rising above said rank.

True but when the new season begins and if you are at a constant skill level you would be able to easily achieve the same rank tier in the new season

I agree, i’m not really a fan of the constant resets, something like a population percentage rank, (like how champion ranks are set up) would be more ideal and work for the reason that 343 resets ranks for
