Why hasn't blue team been seen in previous games?

In Halo 5 I remember hearing one of the Osiris Spartans ask why everyone else on Blue Team was helping Master Chief find Cortana, and Locke said they grew up together in the Spartan II program, and that they ran the most missions any other team has…so why haven’t they been mentioned in previous Halos; or is this just a newer addition to the story that they didn’t think of until making Halo 5?

The other Spartan’s appear in the various novels that greatly detail their missions. While there is no direct mention of them in the games, there is an Easter egg in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary that ties in with the books Halo: The Fall of Reach and Halo: The Flood. In the game you can see Linda’s vital signs. Linda was badly wounded near the end of Halo: The Fall of Reach and the Chief pulled her aboard the Pillar of Autumn before it jumped into slipspace.

During Halo 2 Fred and Linda were fighting on Earth and they eventually wound up at Onyx where Kelly was and they were trapped there while the Chief was busy on the Ark. All three Spartan’s are present at the Voi Memorial though at the end of Halo 3 (just off camera).

So this is pretty much how it goes:

  • Halo: Combat Evolved/Anniversary: Linda is in limbo, Fred and Kelly are on Reach. - Halo 2/Anniversary: Fred and Linda are on Earth. Kelly has been abducted by Dr. Halsey and taken to Onyx. - Halo 3: Fred and Linda travel to Onyx and all three Spartan’s are stuck there but are able to escape.

Wow I never knew that their stories were tied in like that. what are the names of the novels?

The ones I can think of are:

  • Halo: The Fall of Reach. (Pretty much speaks for itself). - Halo: The Flood. (Takes place during Halo: Combat Evolved). - Halo: First Strike. (Bridges the gap between the first two games). - Halo: Ghosts of Onyx. (Builds off the previous entry). - Halo: Glasslands. (The start of a new trilogy but takes place immediately after Halo: Ghosts of Onyx).

Contact Harvest happens before all these right? Haven’t read it yet but I’m literally starring at it on my desk.

That is correct. Halo: Contact Harvest depicts the bloody openings of the Human-Covenant war. And as it is written by Joseph Staten, you know it is going to be good xD

Elite stabbed her with an energy sword, right?

She was hit with several overcharged shots from plasma pistols and plasma rifles, the discharged shots penetrating her flesh all the way to the bone.
