Why has HALO became a love story.

I mean seriously HALO games used to be about blowing -Yoink- up and being a badass while you did it, while eventually saving the entire universe. But in HALO 4 the campaign feels kind of dull, like exsplosions aren’t that spectacular, the ELITES are just so out of place in HALO 4, and you don’t really understand what your doing untill the cutsence starts rolling. And I kind of felt like a huge chunk of the story was missing from the standardized cutsences. That unless you track down all the terminals and download WAYPOINT to you console just so you can get the other half of the campaign you’ll never entirely understand the games campaign. Not to mention that the story between MASTER CHIEF and CORTANA told in HALO 4 is so out of touch with their relationship in past HALO titles. It kind of felt like I was playing a TWILLIGHT/HALO hybrid. That was focused to much on MC and CORTANA, and not enough on story direction. Like why would the DIDACT go through so much to get a hold of the COMPOSER, when the FLOOD are already gone from the MILKY WAY galaxy. Well not entirely theres still samples of FLOOD on the HALO rings. But he already had enough manpower to defeat HUMANITY without the COMPOSER so why risk so much to get a hold of a weapon he didn’t need. Well atleast thats my oppinion.

It didn’t become a love story. Besides, Chief and Cortana always had a close bond.

-Yoinking!- about Halo lore is MY job friend and this isn’t anything wrong.

Still a better love story then twilight.

But it was more of the bond between two old cherished companions, with one who is going through a terminal illness, but still trying to go through.

It wasn’t really romantic at all in that sense. Not to mention it kind of did show Cortana’s curiosity at being human and what things felt like.

Their connection was fine.

Also, hah, Cobra.

They have a really close bond.

Besides, Bungie was clear that they modeled Cortana after their past girlfriends or something of that effect.

It’s called story development and exploration.

If you want explosions and stuff, go play CoD.

If chief actually falls in love, with anyone let alone an AI, I’ll be pissed off forever.

> Besides, Bungie was clear that they modeled Cortana after their past girlfriends or something of that effect.

They were hopped up on hot pockets in their dorms when she was created, so I heard. So the lack of clothing makes sense now…

> If chief actually falls in love, with anyone let alone an AI, I’ll be pissed off forever.

So basically, keep Chief from actually being a human being?

> Besides, Bungie was clear that they modeled Cortana after their past girlfriends or something of that effect.

Their past girlfriends were computers? Seems legit.

Chief IMO is beyond human and should stay that way. No normal man could save humanity like chief did and I hope he doesnt get roped into a relationship whether it be with a computer or flesh.

If I wanna watch a chick flick I will, imo it doesnt need to be in halo.

He doesn’t have to go full blown relationship with anybody, but we already knows he still felt feelings for his friend Parisa and I think it was implied he liked Linda, though I doubt that last part.

What you said is just like saying you prefer Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen over The Dark Knight. I don’t mean each trilogy plot, I mean your personal opinion on what Halo’s campaign should feel like.
Halo 5 is already confirmed to be a darker turn in the Reclaimer trilogy, so Halo 4 was just the beginning, just a set-up for the events later in the trilogy.

Halo 4 wasn’t the previous trilogy. it was more about exploring the master chief and cortana, and their relationship. Comments like “Which of us is the machine” at the beginning of the mission shutdown, or the “Did the master chief succeed because he was, at his core, broken?” in the first cutscene. campaign is an exploration of what it means to be human. What you interpreted as a love story was simply bringing in to focus the relationship already present between cortana and the chief. She is probably the closest thing he has to family since the death of the rest of the spartans he trained with.

I for one welcome more complex storytelling to my favorite series.

I can tell you have no sense of emotion.

Cortana was the only thing/human personality wise, that stood by Chief no matter what. They survived the first ring together, they brought the covenant’s plans down in the second, he came back for her in the third, only to lose her almost instantly after he woke up to her reassuring voice. Kinda depressing having to lose that so no, not like a love story. But more of a loss of something the Chief relied on to be there when he needed it.

I would think spartans were forbidden to have emotions. Wouldnt that get in the way of their duty? I felt like cheif was being held back because of this compared to the original trilogy.

I could let it slide with a fellow S2 as long as its classy. Iono I just hope the story shifts and focuses on him and the surviving S2’s. I just dont need anymore noob non professional S4’s or computer love affairs yano?

Like Halsey said the S2’s are our next step, I think its cool seeing how calm collected and deadly they are compared to the inferior S4’s and the others around them that always get mad and act dumb as a result.

They’ve always had that romantic/love background to them.

To quote Halo 1:

“Sleep well?”

“No thanks to your driving, yes”

“So you did miss me.”

The only things I thought that were really out of place in terms of dialogue was when Cortana said “don’t make a girl a promise you cant keep” (way to butcher that line) , “I will not let you leave this planet”, and “Welcome home John”.

> I would think spartans were forbidden to have emotions. Wouldnt that get in the way of their duty? I felt like cheif was being held back because of this compared to the original trilogy.

You can’t really regulate emotions.
