The game has been out for almost 4 months and lobby chat still doesnt work. There has been no mention that they know it doesnt work and plan to fix it. This has got to be the only game in the history of xbox live that doesnt have lobby chat. Was lobby chat not inteneded to work? If not then whay have any ingame chat functions.
Not haveing lobby chat forces people into party chat and is why there is never any in game communication. Ive only met a couple of new people this whole time due that everybody is always in party chat.
We play custom games twice a week. We have a hard time keeping more than 12 people because the rest of the people are left out of communication with the rest of the group. Plus it stinks trying to make a callout when the player ur calling out can hear you. I dont want to be in party chat while playing a match. I want to be able to communicate in the lobby. The lobby is were we chit chat and take pee and smoke breaks and talk about what we want to play next.
Not having lobby chat is one of those little things that kind ruins the whole experience.
It’s not the chat that’s the problem. Its the entire lobby system.
You join a session, and all you see is 8 measly call of duty styled “emblems” (a spit into the face of true classic halo emblems). You cant see gamertags, you cant see your Spartan, you cant see their Spartan, it makes no sense. To top it off, as you said, there’s a broken chat system (hence why I get 10 party invites every hour), and no party up system post game (same with MCC).
343 has ruined the community feeling of Halo, and I cant figure out why. Halo 4’s was alright, so I expected 5 to be good too.
I have a feeling that all this is a placeholder for yet another unfinished part of halo 5 which they will eventually update. The fact that there are even Spartan stances that only you can see strengthens this, because they are really meant to be seen by others, hinting that a new lobby redesign will be coming.
However, with 343’s cancerous e-sports focus on halo, I can see all this as an intentional way to shift halo from being community based to competitive, and if that’s the case, someone put the gun to my head already.

Yup. Trying to create the eSport before building/allowing to build the community, is a bad idea.
