Here is, plainly and simply, my explanation for the lack of practicality in a PC port of Halo MCC.
The reason I don’t think Halo should port to PC, is because the formula is not a PC game formula. It lacks the “Fast, Reflexive” gameplay of a PC Arcade shooter, such as Quake, or Unreal Tournament… But it also lacks the “Surgical, Tactical” gameplay of a PC Modern Shooter, like Battlefield or Crysis.
Put simply, Halo was designed at it’s core for controller play. And when you play it with a Keyboard and Mouse it is INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. It moves too slow for an Arcade shooter, but the weapons handle like an Arcade shooter and it’s not a good blend for PC play. It strikes the perfect balance for Controllers, where games like Quake Arena and UT have failed to deliver because they move too fast for stick-controlled look speeds and aim assist.
Halo PC is great. H2 Vista is great. PC players have wanted Halo 3 on PC for years. Microsoft is expanding PC gaming. Windows 8 is compatible with Xbone controllers, if I’m not mistaken, and Project Spark shows that it’s cross-compatible with Xbone. What point are you trying to make, exactly? This feels like a total opinion piece to me. “I don’t want the Master Chief collection on PC because using a keyboard and mouse to play Halo is uncomfortable for me!” What?
Dear Master Chief,
Please save us. The flood needs to be stopped again. Only this time, it’s the flood of PC port threads.
Save us, Chief. We need you!
Please keep the discussion in the mega thread I made
Wow, OP, I thought I had some respect for you, but obviously, it was misplaced respect. It’s your opinion, but that doesn’t mean that’s a good reason for Halo MCC not to be ported. Also, you can play PC games using Xbox 360, Xbox One, AND PS3 controllers. So, if mouse and keyboard doesn’t feel right to you, there’s nothing stopping you from playing it with a Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller. Plus no one is forcing you to go and buy a copy, and play it, SO the “Mouse and Keyboard set up doesn’t feel right for Halo to me” excuse, isn’t a good reason NOT to have Halo be ported to the PC.
That’s why you lost my respect, because you think Halo MCC shouldn’t be ported to the PC just because YOU don’t like the mouse and keyboard control setup.
> Wow, OP, I thought I had some respect for you, but obviously, it was misplaced respect.
Hey now, don’t resort to personal attacks. Just quote my original reply and be glad that you didn’t have to do it for once. I was thinking of you when I said it!
can’t you use a controller for pc anyway?
> Wow, OP, I thought I had some respect for you, but obviously, it was misplaced respect.
OOOOOOOHHHHHH SNAAAAAAPPPPP! dont you ever let weird stealth catch you putting down the idea of Halo getting ported to PC, son!..damn he’s too cold!
> can’t you use a controller for pc anyway?
Yes, you can!
Yea, you can use a controller for it.
But to say it shouldn’t come out because it is meant purely for controllers? Absolute bullshark.
Consider the world today, where people can text with one hand and multitask in, hopefully, not dangerous ways. Is it really all that hard to transition your hands from a controller to a keyboard? It’s simple.
I’m open to it coming to PC.
The demand for Halo on PC is there whether it matches the “formula” for PC FPS games. The reason why we’re not seeing it release with Xbox One version is because Microsoft wants to try and sell Xbox Ones.
To put it more simply, Halo is not optimized for the PC. Most players who play Halo PC also have played Halo on Xbox anyway, so it doesn’t make sense to port everything to PC for just a few more sales. That’s not why the MCC shouldn’t get ported to PC; that’s why it won’t.

People don’t have to center their opinions on your threads because you want them to.
Edit: Why do you feel people only have the right to post on your thread? That is not how these forums work. People can post anywhere they want as long as it is within the rules and guidelines.
Also, your mega thread is no better than any other thread and calling it a mega thread does not help your case.
You know, I have been okay with a port in a few years but I am beginning to feel the opposite way. The request for ports has gotten extremely annoying and so argumentative to the point where it could drive someone crazy. I have been okay with a port in a few years but these requests have become ridiculous.
A few weeks ago, a thread popped up that discussed a PC release. The OP was extremely rude towards console gamers and acted as if we didn’t even matter because he played on the PC. Threads like this have gotten on my nerves. I know not nearly all PC gamers are like this but many expect the developers to listen to them and port the game. Halo has become exclusive to consoles and they should remain that way. Each platform has its own exclusives but for some reason people want to remove the exclusivity of Xbox’s flagship franchise.
I understand that you want Halo to come to PC so you can play it again but it is an exclusive and should remain that way. PC has amazing games to play already, ones that I know could never possibly come over to consoles. I am so alright with that.
I just find it so hard to support a port to PC now.
Edit: What has made me angry is the amount of requests. Honestly a PC port won’t really affect anyone in this community in a negative way. I don’t care either way anymore.
This is your opinion. I would bu this for PC.
I’m pretty much on board with phoenixfire. If a PC gamer truly hates the games he has to play and wants what was a console exclusive on his platform, then what is even the point of different consoles? We’d have the Nintendo Xstationbox right now.
True, mods, graphics, and custom options are there for PC ports, but I find the whole PC elitism thing to get a bit overboard sometimes.
If you want Halo:MCC, swallow the pride and get an XBOX if you want it that badly. I built a PC for some PC-only titles and I don’t even care for PC gaming. Just no more fanboyism/elitism… gets ridiculous. This whole PC port debate is going to get worse than the Xbox One vs the PS4 stuff pretty quickly.
A slow game is a slow game, regardless if its on PC or Xbox. Halo is still enjoyable despite its relatively slower pacing, having it on Xbox doesn’t change that.
As for aiming skillgap, the PC port could just have smaller hitboxes to compensate for the increased capability of mouse and keyboard.
I would love MCC to be on the PC provided the modding tools aren’t locked. People could create so many amazing things.

It wasn’t really meant as a personal attack, but more of a “your reasoning isn’t a valid reason”. I edited that post to better explain it.
Also, thanks.
Why are we still arguing about this issue? This as just as bad and embarrassing as the people who argued and requested Reach to be in the game. REMEBER! 343 NEVER said they weren’t going to include a PC version. Right now their main focus is the Xbox One. Just seriously wait until more news roll in or until the end. Who knows? Something might come up after Halo The Master Chief Collection is finally released on console. PC people are probably going to have to wait longer like in the past. But if nothing comes up before then. Well, I guess simply too bad.
Now can we please calm ourselves?
-“OP?”…Imma Zealot!
sounds like someone doesn’t know how to use a keyboard and mouse. I played Halo PC and it feels much, much better aiming with a mouse than a controller. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a PC gamer and if Halo MCC comes out for both PC and Xbox One I’ll still be getting it for the Xbox One. But it’s foolish to deny that keyboard and mouse is still pretty dominant over controller anyday.
My opinion? Why not have a PC port? It doesn’t screw console fans over or anything, because 343 is going to focus mainly on console release. If anyone is going to have the shorter stick, it’s mostly likely going to be PC gamers, because 9 times out of ten, PC gamers get less support from cross-platform game developers. So being a console elitist doesn’t really make any sense. If 343 has the time to port to PC, let them do it. It’s only going to add more flexibility for us and bring in some PC gamers.
I think that they should focus on consoles for now. Maybe when halo is said and done and isn’t chugging out new games anymore they can look at bringing the entire experience to the PC side. I could see the PC argument if halo had been multiplatform for a majority of the series. But it hasn’t. And logically most halo fans would have switched to the console anyway if they cared that much about the franchise.
Am i saying a PC port of the series is not needed? No. I just don’t think the timing is right for it yet. And I agree with your point about it feeling like a console game. But i don’t agree that it’s a good reason to not port it over at some point.
