I understand that the competitive community (formerly known as “mlg”) is hardcore and they don’t represent everyone but why has the competitive nature of Halo always been flipping avoided by the developers.
I feel like this was always a strength of the game but in Reach and 4 they abandoned ranks and even before that in H2-3 they had a lot of features, gametypes, and maps that really screamed: I AM SUPER CASUAL AND THIS GAME BETTER NOT BE TOO STRATEGIC OR COMPETITIVE.
I am serious. Do you remember playlists that had that 1 map and gametype that made you ask youself, “what were they thinking”. Here is an example: Default foundry by Bungie being in matchmaking in H3.
I am part of the competitive community so obviously I feel that we have been ignored by the developers but I really do feel that that was ONE OF THE STRENGTHS of Halo.
You know, you didn’t HAVE to argue that Halo took more skill than COD because IT DID.
Now they are continuing to blur the lines with the pubbish(COD esque super casual public matches) feel and bad matchmaking design. I am sure they will patch the bugs but I am not confident that they see the big picture or understand that the game needs a ranking system and solid competitive game types without Promethien vision and camo.
FYI guys those abilities dont really piss me or anyone off but lets be honest, do you REALLY think that good players use anything except movement based perks and the packages like quick reload?
Let me answer that for you. Nah, they dont. I just wish there were settings based on my logic here because H4 just seems like a casual, pubfest, shatshow designed to appeal to first timers who will play it for a week.
