So I want to address some rumors about Halo Infinite (and Starfield but I always thought that was going to be a 22 release) being delayed until 2022; on Twitter and being talked about with some of the Halo content creators… So although I’m extremely glad we’re getting consistent updates with Halo Infinite and they couldn’t be doing a better job of being transparent and informative with the community. The Halo screenshots we’re getting are on PC and I can’t help but wonder how the game is looking series X-wise. I’m personally afraid 343i is going to make game cut’s to make the push backdate in December. If it comes down to it I would absolutely wait another year for the campaign or even the entire game if it meant 343 got to execute their creative vision. I want to avoid a cyberpunk 2077 disaster and as crazy as it seems I could see it happening to Halo. I don’t know how everybody else feels but good things come to those who wait and I don’t want all are waiting to be in vain if we push a release and don’t get a finished product… What are your guy’s thoughts/concerns?
I’ve been seeing a lot of rumors surrounding talks about it getting pushed back to 2022. Personally I’m not bothered, however I know that it won’t sit well with many who have been waiting for years, and rightfully so.

I understand the impatience, I think its fully justified, but I have been an advocate for two big reforms in the gaming industry as of late:
- End the social scourge that is crunch culture.
- Stop the trend of games being released unfinished/broken (looking at you MCC)
Because of these two asks of mine I would be an absolute hypocrite if I also demanded that 343 rush the project at all. In my opinion it is most important that 343 makes infinite as good as it can be before release, and for them to make that game ethically while doing so. If this means delaying it until 2022 I will defend them and so long they are honest and transparent I hope the community can understand.
Halo infinite must release this year 2021, there isn’t option, there isn’t any excuses
While I understand if the game releases in 2022, a second pushback will not do any good for the games already cracked image. If 343i do announce another pushback I hope they have something up their sleeves for damage control. That being said I hope it only is what it is: a rumour.

I still think that if it has to happen it would be easier to mend the damage with proper transparency and honesty than it would be to put our the dumpster fire that could result from rushing the project and have it launched incomplete. If we have another H5 flop in the story, or borken MP like with MCC at launch then this could very well be the death knell for the whole series.
This last couple of years have been hell on every level of production in the world, and there are some big demands for the game to be produced ethically and competently. This may mean having to wait longer than we consumers have become accustomed to.
I personally don’t see why they would need to push it back again. They’ve had so many years to work on it. The last time we had a new Halo FPS game release was 6 years. After H5 stopped getting updates there hasn’t been a whole lot of new content for Halo fans to enjoy. I’ve been waiting patiently for years now, and I don’t really think there is any excuse for 343 to delay the game until 2022. If they have to delay the game until 2022 to ensure it doesn’t release broken, then I understand, but I won’t be one bit happy about it as I’ve already been waiting a year (which to clarify I was okay with waiting a year bc I saw how it needed more time but over 1 year is pushing it). But that’s just my 2 cents.
It’s a rumour and it don’t mean anything until it happens.
It’s silly to expect a delay when we haven’t had any word or content from 343 implying things are going downhill. They are the professionals and I trust them to make the right decision with their product, but frankly it’s the first big next Gen title. It need to come out soon, and it needs to be good. Otherwise it’s just another Free To Play shooter.
Personally I reckon delaying it further would probably cause just as much damage as releasing it incomplete this year.
All I’m going to say, is if it is pushed back to 2022, 343 better have made something worth the wait.

Well here’s the problem. Everyone wants this game to come out ASAP. Thing is we might get a broken game. I honestly don’t know if they should wait or not. If it’s ready, release it ASAP, if it’s broken, hold off a year.
I’ll be bummed out if it’s not releasing this year but I’ll keep faith in 343 as they know what’s best for their game. Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking they don’t care a whole lot for Halo just as we do.
I just hope others share this same sentiment.
To finish up, these are rumours and until it comes from a developer we should treat them accordingly. These rumours are what typically boosts negative outlooks on games and devs - and neither deserve it.

Allow me to present the “excuses”. Halo Infinite Dev. time is estimated to have begun around 2017 (working out the ideas name concept etc.) right after HW 2 release, not only during this time were 343i having active dev support for “Halo 5”, “HW2” and “MCC” they were also A: Working on new Slipspace engine. B: Working on the HW DLC Awakening the nightmare and whatnot. and C: Working on porting the MCC to PC. needles to say dev supporting 3 games, making a new game engine, working on creating a new halo installment and porting six fps consol games to PC kind of makes you busy. (not to mention the whole tier unlock system we’re getting and the “seasons” to unlock armor and customization were still getting with MCC) and now on top of that there setting up monthly interviews and live streams with the team. and that’s just 343i from the game dev side! don’t forget about the Halo TV show, and toy’s. I think there are plenty of “excuses” they have their hands very full. Again I’d rather have Halo take its time to be the legendary series it is than tarnish its name with a 2077 disaster.

Although I’m an advocate for them taking their time (see statement above) I also heartily agree. In case someone at 343 reads this I have a solution. This year at E3 we get another trailer, but also they release a demo and possibly select multiplayer modes for online to start bringing in new players as well as getting another year of feedback to make sure it handles pretty well! if they do release this year I trust they will not release an unfinished game (or we will get free updates for missing content such as multiplayer modes like with Halo 5.)

Again (Read first statement BeastSprayz) there are plenty of things and content that has kept Halo busy, at least they seem to actually be listening to their fans!

Intresting take, I agree with the fact that a “rumor is a rumor” but I don’t think this is a lose lose sinero like your bottom statement, If 343 released a demo and maybe some of the free online multiplayer (or even Forge) we would be able to wait for gemplay guarantee you XD

There’s a fix for both points and that would be proper project management. I have no idea why people think more time equates to a better game, especially when as of late a lot of stuff that gets more time than your average game gets put out incomplete and it’s not because of a lack of time but bad management. Look into the developer blogs of anthem, cyberpunk, Andromeda, watch dogs 2, etc etc. Time doesn’t make the product, it’s how that time is used that makes it. When you constantly bring up ideas and build off them but then 6 months later scratch the idea or feature to then restart all over from scratch, that’s bad management and a misuse of time.
ImI also no advocate for more time because eventually people are going to lose interest waiting 10 years for something 🤷. Business wise the longer a project is in development the more expensive it gets and the more it has to sell to then make up for. I don’t find it reasonable to keep giving people time, not when others can do better with less, not when interest also drops in the product. A delay might be ok but 5+ years? Yea no, that sounds more like management needs restructured because that’s not efficient for a company to run.
While a 2022 date would give everyone more time to actually get their hands on a Xbox X which is good, If the game has to push back once again that far, it’s a sign that either the game has so many problems that the machine can’t handle it, or they are literally having to rewrite and remake the entire game freaking Anthem style, which isn’t a good thing. I must say, it’s sadly looking more and more that this game will solidify my last outing with Halo.

I’m neutral on Infinite releasing in 2021 or being pushed back until 2022, but 343i need to do what it needs to do to get the game ready to be released, either releasing it this year or next year.
But if it does gets released next year, they could add a lot more content to MCC allowing there to be more than 10 Seasons for MCC, the last few season could be armor customizations from Halo Infinite. They could take their time to do bug fixes across all games in MCC and possibly add more mod support and make sure that the Custom game browser works and is implemented how it should be across all games.
Also if it is delayed Halo Infinite next year, Halo 2 Anniversary could possibly have the chance to get more Remastered Maps, and YES this would take resources and time to develop these maps but with a delay of Halo Infinite its quite possible to get more Remastered Maps.
Also, what if 343i decided to delay Halo Infinite for 2022 and decided to Remaster all of the Halo 2 Anniversary Maps as a PAYED DLC which could also come with a beta key for Halo Infinite? Which I would not really mind paying a fee for a Map DLC for Halo 2 Anniversary as it has a relatively small map Pool and a Map DLC would be great for H2A.
What do you guys think of a Map DLC that comes with a beta key for Halo Infinite?

I honestly thing that is a fair trade, to pay a small fee in exchange of a Map DLC for Halo 2 Anniversary. Its take time and effort to make really nice looking maps, I do think delaying Halo Infinite would a good move, this would allow more content to come to MCC and it might also give Halo 2 Anniversary to get more Remastered maps. I honestly don’t mind paying a fee for a map DLC for H2A, especially if a beta key for Halo Infinite comes with it. That would encourage people to buy it. Im still hoping for a Season update for Halo 2 Anniversary and really do hope that it gets 1 or 2 more Season updates.
