Why Halo 5 overcompetitiveness is a bad thing

Is this a joke?? I have played 6 games today, 3 of them JIP with my team losing (not only points, and positions, weapons, kills) making it imposible to win.
Im fine with losing, but losing 7 or 8 times in a row because you enter a game with unskilled teammates, and overskilled enemies is -Yoinking!- annoying, im not saying this just because I’ve lost, what I really mean are 2 things:
1st: arena matchmaking is broken. How can i be playing with diamonds and onyx if I am only platinum and my team are just gold??? This only equals one thing: LOSING
2nd: Overcompetitive playing. What the hell is wrong with those tryhards that can follow you all the game just to kill you if they’ve hit you 2 or 3 times, or those warzone games where all the team goes for the other team 1st base and takes them even before the 3rd base hasnt been taken or even been stept in…
Halo is becoming so intense that playing it is just becoming awful, but thats not the worst part, the worst thing that could happen to halo is the lack of PVE, because playing that competitive just gives you stress and you just cant relax ,because there are only -Yoinking!- competitive people on -Yoinking!- competitive playlists.
Halo 5 has very clean physics( not vehicle, that are exaggerated) and mechanincs, its lovely to play, but with that mood in all the community halo is becoming pure competition, unenjoyable.
Thanks for your attention and sorry for my bad english. (too annoyed to correct errors)

That’s what pushes me away from this game I miss the random fun it seems like a chore in Halo 5. Arena is a pain because it’s all ranked and no BTB doesn’t count maybe I want to play 4v4 an besides BTB isn’t even properly social! Then we have warzone which is the least fun iv had in Halo in a long time, I wish they had just made firefight for PVE and invasion for the warzone type games.

99% of the time, even when I agree with the post, if it’s riddled with errors and “-yoinks-” the argument itself goes out the window and I often dismiss the entire thing. What I mean is, it’s better to take the time to spell out what you’re trying to say properly because often the point you’re trying to make gets lost among all the “wtf yoink yoink lol wat a joke” stuff.

But I do agree. Lately the matching seems a little off at times. Sometimes I wonder if people don’t purposely play poorly during the 10 qualifying matches to get a low rank, then just clean house for a while to rank up from Silver or Gold to Onyx for fun.

I also hope they make a PVE mode. Maybe they’ll do something like ODST where they’ll build a little campaign off of Halo 5’s engine and add a Firefight mode. I wouldn’t even be mad if they sold it separately. Call it “Halo 5: The PVE You Asked For, But You’ll Still Complain About It”. lol

Yup, couldn’t agree more. I love playing competitively most of the time, but I find the fact that I’m always playing Diamonds and Onyxes kind of frustrating. Ranked playlists should be for when you’re feeling like some competition and should not be the only option for those who play these great game modes. I also get the feeling that only about 1/3 of the people in Arena actually care about winning, which shouldn’t be the case when it comes to a ‘Competitive’ playlist. A social arena playlist (Without snipes…) would be perfect because then I would have something to play when I’m having a bad day and I don’t feel like being such a tryhard. It would also make Arena 100% tryhard and a better experience for those who actually want a competitive Halo.

A lot of the causaler :wink:players are in snipers so there’s only the uber competitive left in arena, it doesn’t get any better I have been matching far better players and I’m low onyx and diamond.

Maybe people are waiting til reset to play just the hardcore left

Ah I’m always up for some competitveness hell me and my fireteam buddies don’t even make a big deal of the csr on certain playlists but we try our best

Man, I’m spanish and my english grammar isn’t perfect but everyone understood what I meant when I wrote that, if you preffer I can writte it in prefect castellano, and have 0 grammar error, sorry if it bothered you, but writting it in my not ‘‘perfect’’ english seemed to be the best option

This is why we need social playlists!

How dare those “tryhards” actually try to win the game!

I for one thought the point of the game was to -Yoink!- marines all game long.

Yeah we need social playlists. Playing big team battle can be pretty frustrating too, even though it’s “unranked”

Why People Who Don’t Want to Try is Bad For Halo:

What’s the deal with these posts? Are people seriously saying they don’t want to have to try? You’re playing a game that keeps score, has a winner and loser but you don’t want to have try? Are these the people on my team who go 2-14? I understand it’s frustrating when the pure rankings are that skewed with one team all Plats and the other has 1 Plat and low golds or unranked. However, I keep seeing these post bashing people who actually try. This is a game with a certain set of physics and I set out to master them. That’s the point, and to me it’s more fun that way…

Could not agree more. If it wasn’t the lack of a mature gritty setting, that sry excuse for a campaign/story or general the lack of content that killed the majority of the games traffic, it was the lack of a PVE/Spartan ops or firefight mode, maybe they still have that in the pipeline but my guess is their saving it for halo 6 or paid DLC.

not only that but not only is there no PVE mode there’s no decent coop mode or custom games matchmaking. It is too competitive and I find myself not playing it because I have work and have a child to take care of and I don’t want to be bogged down by the stress of winning/losing a match in halo, a game I’m suppose to love.

i don’t know if halo has ever been a relaxing game. if you want a relaxing game go play farmville or minecraft or something. competition will always be part of halo.

warzone is too competitive? lol

join in progress doesnt affect anything but BTB and warzone. people quitting on loosing teams is a shame, but I’ve been part of many comebacks after being placed on to the loosing team. it is not impossible to win after JIP with a loosing team. you just had 3 games where you lost. 3. thats nothing. quit complaining.

you just need to get better at halo, or play the campaign if you don’t like getting wrecked by those who are more “competitive” than you. maybe this game isn’t for you if you want something relaxing…

Humour me. What would constitute a “social” playlist or a less “competitive” halo?
Not talking PvE, just PvP.

Needs social playlists

What makes a playlist “social”?

I dont mean that I dont like halo, in fact I’ve had them all and done all the campaigns in legendary solo, even got the recon in halo 3 the hard way, doing the achievements you had to. This is my favourite saga of all times, I just say that this competitive mood, like everyone in the community were trying to reach mlg, is ruinning all the fun and making it more serious and more skill needed… I’ve played with and versu Onyxes and heroes, won and lost, so dont come with -Yoinking!- about me when you dont even know my skill, and why I say this. JIP and ranking/matching needs improvement, its just it

your absolutely right in a diamond and get matched up with silvers and occasionally a bronze. For the most part it works just fine. Were equivalent. Though any other game like killer instinct it’ll put me up against the highest ranked people in the world quite often too. The system here works way better.

Pretty sure you can’t join in progress ranked games. If you are talking about Warzone then I don’t know what to tell you, some people prefer slaying over capturing bases or taking down bosses. I can’t really knock it because taking out a Spartan out of action for a couple tens of seconds helps everyone else out.

Couldn’t agree more with these two posts. Halo is competitive. If you don’t like that, then play Destiny or CoD.
