Why Halo 5 is the most respectable shooter of 2015

In a world where pay-to-win micro-transactions, day one DLC, and pricey season passes are common, take a look at Halo 5: a big budget, AAA shooter in that era:

-Free DLC maps
-Forge mode is free
-No pay-to-win
-All added game-types are free
-All added extra REQ cards are free

Do you know how easily Microsoft could have forced 343 to have charged you these things, when doing so is the dreaded norm? Literally all of Halo 5’s content is free, save the initial $60 you’d pay to get it. It makes the game all the more admirable, huh.

But anyway, I can’t wait to play it!

Such kind words. The hype is real.

Because it was simply the Godfather of FPS’s? Not counting 007 on the N64 either.

Well, as the title implies, I’m talking about 2015 alone.

You know its sad when free maps has to be highlighted, when it should have already been the standard years ago as it already has been on a number of PC games.

Fair enough, but yes because of all the free stuff and that I also think because which each game new things are applied.

It certainly will be nice to not have to pay an extra $30 for a season pass or each individual DLC. And more importantly the game looks really good

Because it’s not continuously shoved down our throats every year like COD is. Battlefield is also HIGHLY respected because they take their time making each game. They tried changing it up with Hardline but didn’t so well. I think Hardline was made purely for the idea of making MORE money MORE often. That isshh don’t fly. Halo know’s what’s up. Although Halo is by far my favorite franchise, it wouldn’t be the same if it was released every year.

Not sure what your definition of “respectable” is but I do like what their doing.

In my opinion 343 will try to keep the principal goals that bungie kept so they cant change big things like this

Wouldn’t doubt it. Needs more attention in the gaming industry, especially from innovation. Pretty much we’ll be getting what will hopefully help emerging indie companies who are new to the industry that need access to tools for their games like Halo. Plus, respect would do Halo and community a lot of good.

Halo 5 is the only shooter coming out this year with both an adequate campaign with a nice length and diverse cast, and a nice selection of various multiplayer modes. Fallout looks great, but it’s still a campaign-based experience and might be a bit too long for newcomers to the series. Battlefront on the other hand is a multiplayer-only experience and the lack of campaign in a STAR WARS game of all thing only hurts it. Black Ops 3 looks fun, but aside from zombies, the COD series doesn’t really have that extra flavor to make it something truly great. It’s repetitive.

So yeah, you’d be hard-pressed to find many shooters that can stand up to Halo 5 in terms of quality this year. Fallout 4 is the only one that measures up IMO and even then, they’re for two different audiences.

Oh sweet jesus, the trolling line has gone full circle and someone actually believes that Halo invented FPS.

You realize part of this is for advertisements, and the other to make up for mcc. But tbh i am behind it and also i don’t know why another triple A game hasn’t done it yet, it is a unique selling point

I think you forgot the fact that it also has amazing game play and story line, something that is becoming rarer in this genre of games.

Especially when the story can be spanned across several games, books, and video.

I agree. Someone give this man a cookie.

Everyone knows halo didn’t invent FPS it just defined it.

I agree with you and the sad thing is I had to make a choice between… like choosing between my two kids to save from a firey death. I chose Halo 5 because it will be less buggy and more enjoyable at launch… Ill get fallout 4 definitely by Christmas
