The game was built around competitive settings, pro’s play on maps/gametypes with the exact same settings that you can have in Team Arena or Slayer (minus a few map/gametype combo’s)
Weapon balance is nearly perfect, with the weapon of choice being the pistol. In high rated games the pistol is by far the most used weapon, and even in tournament games accuracy with the pistol is around 40-60%. Pro’s like Snip3down are sitting on 63% accuracy with the Magnum. Wall guns are all useful, and some are very good in certain situations. The shotgun, sword, rocks, and sniper are obvious choices, but Halo 5 has added value to guns like the SMG and Storm Rifle making them dangerous at close range. Its no longer just about running around with a BR and occasionally getting a power weapon, now there are certain situations where an SMG/Storm Rifle are useful. Even with the buffs to the SMG/Storm Rifle they’re not overused.
The increase in the pace of the gameplay has also added a new dimension of skill into the game. With all of the new movement options there are many new ways to outplay your opponent. There are more trick jumps than ever, and many of them give advantages to competitive play.
The radar has been reduced to be useful mainly for seeing enemies around corners that are close, or under/above you. You can’t just keep eyes on your radar anymore and expect to see everything around you. Now players are forced to have a certain amount of gamesense in order to see their enemies coming. Keeping track of when your team kills an enemy, and when/where he’ll be respawning are more important than ever in a Halo game.
“Halo 5 is the first Halo game in the title’s lifespan to attempt to combine the casual and competitive community into one. When I say that, I mean in regard to competitive settings and including the same game that any player can pick up in stores and right out of the box be the same game they watch online and on TV being played at competitions around the world. This type of uniformity is critical to the success of Halo as we’ve seen other titles such as League of Legends use the same approach to cultivate a massive community that follows their game and all competitions worldwide. Strictly as a competitive title in comparison to former Halo titles, Halo 5 is incredibly well made. Aiming is difficult, the weapon system is incredibly balanced, the maps are efficiently and optimally designed, and as a competitive title, Halo has arguably never been more competitive.”
I agree with everything except for the radar. I like to know where people are in advance and act on that knowledge rather than having to instantly react when an enemy sprints up to me out of nowhere and knock me out.
None of that makes the game the most balanced in the series. Don’t be embarrased though, nothing you could say would prove that to be the case since it’s not true.
If it’s so balanced and "its no longer just about running around with a BR and occasionally getting a power weapon, now there are certain situations where an SMG/Storm Rifle are useful…
…then why do people still constantly run around with the BR?
I don’t really agree Halo 5 is the most balanced, but I accept that opinion. Technically all the Halo’s have equal starts except for Reach and Halo 4. I personally feel the first three Halo’s are more balanced than Halo 5, but Halo 5 is the best since. Halo CE was probably the most balanced due to every weapon in the sandbox feeling unique and purposeful, but it had the least amount of weapons in the sandbox as a counterpoint. Halo 2’s BR was a master of all trades kind of weapon if you learned how to use it. You could argue a game is balanced for the simple reason that everyone had a fully capable weapon upon every spawn. I could go on and on, but you get the idea.
People need to stop fondling this game and help us get back to the old halo formula that people actually loved because it didnt even need to try bringing us together because we already were together as halo fans. Now I have to deal with the idiots from other games claiming that they enjoy halo 4/5 more than the old ones because they have sprint yet they are already back to their favorite game while I have to deal with this game that most dont even consider “halo” anymore

Saddest part that the “most” who don’t see Halo as “Halo” are veterans from either CE or somewhere in the trilogy.
And that quote at the bottom of OP’s post makes me cringe as well. Attempt to combine casual and competitive.
Casual players want to have fun and enjoy the game, competitive people just want to win… the two shouldn’t mix.

Halo 2 and 3 had the BR balanced but absolutely terrible sandbox balance. Loll autos were useless, 90 of my AR duels in H3 resulted in melee because my itself it does nothing.
Halo 3 had a cool sandbox with brute weapons in the mix. Picking up and thing aside from BR or a power weapon put you at a disadvantage. Some of the blame can def go to dual wielding tho.
AR/SMG start in halo 2/3 is unplayable loll it’s a rush to a BR as it it were a power weapon.
Even not my tool of destruction is the BR so I’m def not a BR hater lol BR is bae. Just saying as a whole the previous sandbox were terrible. The game was balanced if you new to go any gun that isn’t a BR or power weapon in the floor lol ( except certain scenario duh -Yoink!- brute shot)
There are plenty of reasons why making automatic weapons that don’t require any skill as effective as they currently are isn’t good balance, but I’m not particularly interested in writing another long post in response to one of these stupid posts.
