Why Halo 5 has low Twitch viewership?

Halo 5 has pretty solid arena MM by most accounts. It also has some pretty nice payouts for the tournaments.

The Twitch.tv viewership is extremely low. As an avid twitch viewer and Halo fan, I’ve always been baffled by this.

Halo 5 usually has anywhere from 500 to 2,000 people. For example, ‘right now’ at prime time (6:05 PM pst) it has 1,657 viewers.

As many know, that is extraordinary low for a ‘MM based’ game. And it doesn’t seem to be picking up steam as the game continues to be updated / improved.

Any ideas why?

Because Halo is not popular now.

Could be people find it unfamiliar, could be people just don’t like how it plays.

Because it is not as popular as it was before, and most streamers don’t have the fun personality that attracts viewers.

Because Halo’s popularity in the pro circuits has been declining rapidly since Reach came out, and 343i has not helped with their release of Halo 4. People don’t care about Halo anymore, and the fact that Halo 5 shipped with as little features as it did (including no splitscreen) has not helped at all.

I guess that makes sense. If Halo 5 shipped with the content it has now it might be in a much better place.

I’m still shocked it’s not growing though. I guess first impressions mean a lot in the gaming industry. Too many other good options out there for people when a bad launch happens.

Exactly. Halo 5 may be in a much better place now than at launch, but first impressions are everything. Back in November, people saw a game with a bad story and little multiplayer features, with no splitscreen. That was sure to turn off pretty much everybody, and I don’t blame them.

Because its a horrible game and not fun to watch

Halo is not popular anymore, why would people watch something that they do not know or do not want.

Honestly, its because most Halo streamers are not fun to watch. Viewers want to interact with the player and want to watch good gameplay. This tends to happen when individuals like Kampy, Activee, or any of the other pros play and viewer ship rises. Its the people playing not necessarily the quality of the game when it comes to twitch.

Jeez, these comments are depressing.

Because Pros don’t care

Halo 5 just isn’t as fun to watch. I love the game, but I don’t even watch clips people send me anymore.

Ya know, I do still watch Halo 5 a decent amount and I enjoy supporting the Halo scene.

But I would be lying if I said it’s as fun as watching past Halo games.

The pacing / flow just isn’t as interesting anymore. And the sound (literally, too much sound) ruins it for me a bit as well. Ting ting ting stuck in tin can feel. It definitely is less fun to watch than past Halo games… I figured that could have been a biased opinion on my part though.

Actually the pros do care…

If they get paid to play the game.

Ya 343 should have just put all of their pre planned content at launch things would have been a lot different. And if forge was not ready, they should have delayed the launch. And if they would have done that they could have improved the game even more.

It’s not as popular as other games on the market plus there are streams like Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 that people prefer to watch because it’s new

Halo2/Halo3 its better, why people would like to watch halo5? unless halo5 come to win10

I just ordered a capture card and a gaming pc and I was really looking forward to streaming some Warzone Firefight and BTB, along with Warzone and Warzone Assault occasionally. But I am really really disappointed in Warzone Firefight. With all of its issues, glitches, and cheap difficulty level tactics in general, I don’t enjoy it.

To be honest I don’t even get what’s so great about watching these streams anyway…

Playing the game? Yeah that’s fun.
Watching someone play a game I own myself? Just feels kind of boring to me,but I’m not judging people here, everyone has their own preferences.

On topic: Main reason is that Halo isn’t that well known anymore, if I ask friends if they want to come around for some beers and Halo I often hear: What’s Halo?
May be this way because Halo gets literally no PR over here in Germany…
