why halo 4 will suck?

I suppose you clicked here thinking I’m gonna blindly hate on 343i, well that is not the case. Let me explain what I mean before you start raging.
Bungie has always done a great job of listening to the community and taking feedback. Of course they are gone and now 343i has taken their place. I have full trust that 343i will listen to the community…that is where I see a problem.
As many of you might know, 343i has been getting bombarded by the community about how “Halo Reach is not a Halo game, you better bring back classic Halo”.

Now let me start this off by saying Halo Reach is a Halo game…just because it made some big mistakes does not mean it is “not a Halo game”. This is not a cafeteria and you do not get to decide what games you want to be considered canon, part of the series, etc.

OK, now let’s take a look at Halo’s current state.
Anyone who hops on Reach will notice that most playlists are below 1,000 players. Halo’s population has been decreasing ever since Halo 3…not because Halo 3 was a bad game (it was one of the best) but because players have been moving on to other emerging shooters.
While you may not give a damn if players leave, the developers sure as hell do.

Now let’s go back 10 years. What made Halo so popular in the first place? Well it did things most shooters have never done before. Re-gen health, situational guns, etc. Halo 2 took the series another leap forward with the multiplayer and what not. Now what is happening with Halo that is causing the population to decrease?
Well, it’s because Halo is starting to lose to other shooters. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Homefront, Medal of Honor, etc. have already learned from Halo with their gameplay mechanics and features. Halo is now leveling down with them because the series is no longer as innovative as it once was.

Now back to the point…what is it people are asking for…“nothing but classic Halo”. In case you don’t understand what I’m saying yet, the community is bombarding 343i and basically telling them not to try anything and to simply clone Halo 2/3.
Will 343i break under the pressure and clone a previous Halo game?

If Halo wants to stay at the top it will have to make some huge innovations and take a jump ahead of it’s competitors. With the community breathing down their necks and telling them to do the opposite, 343i may make the wrong decision.

This is my opinion, respect it and I will respect yours.

Inb4TLDR

They need to model this game off of halo2/3 and at the same time create innovative, but not genre killing features that will give the game good replay value.

I hope 343i ignore the people who are afraid of change. I don’t want to play a game that plays like Halo 3, I already have one of those, it’s called Halo 3. Keep things moving forward I say.

You are right, with the part where you said halo 4 must bring in something no shooters have.

(Halo reach tried) but no one liked it.

but jumping to a conclusion saying halo 4 will suck. i disagree. we have no information.

Yes I agree, Halo 2/3 make excellent bases for Halo 4 though they must avoid cloning them.

I don’t know whether Halo 4 will suck, which is why I added the question mark in the title. This is more of a call for the community to stop bugging 343i and let them make the game.

Exactly games like COD learned from them now Halo must learn from them. For example what makes COD fun well you get lots of customization when it comes to weapons and equipment, a fair number of players, action packed campaign ect. I think Halo 4 should take Halo 3 and make it way more innovative too keep up with modern shooters. But i also have to say that COD makes a new game every year so its easy for them too improve on there game and take other games good ideas

Totally agree. I want to see 343i make the Halo game they think will carry the series for another decade…doing what bungie did in the last decade will not carry the series for another decade. As you said, the popularity of Halo has dramatically decreased since Halo launched with the advent of series like battlefield and cod hitting the console spotlight this generation.

People aren’t afraid of change… they are afraid of BAD change! Aka, if they make Halo 4 into Reach 2.5!

This is the person to listen to on these forums, 343.

The only reason people go to COD is because either…

A) They plainly just don’t like halo because its not their game or

B) They’re just stupid and get ammused when somthing new comes out every year or

C) The many little kids (even though there are probably more on COD) scare them off.

No, I doubt they will and that is why Halo 4 will not suck.

Frankie has said many times, Halo 4 is a “new” game and in new games you get “New weapons, new vehicles, new everything”. Change is good but with Halo, you need to be smarter with it because there is still that core that says so much about the game. That’s why people keep bringing up Halo 2/3.

video game makers are focusing too much on online multiplayer these days. what about those who dont have it?

examples: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, BF3, etc.

Firefight was a good place to start for those who dont have XBLG. i was terribly disappointed at the lack of Firefight maps on Halo CEA. maybe a longer campagaign? Reach, 3, and ODST were way too short…

how about a Zelda, or Skyrim-length Halo? huh? anyone?

The most important thing for 343 to do is to implement change that is actually needed, not change just for the sake of making a different game.

I am going to have to disagree with one of those comments the part where you said bungie listens more to the community than 343. Well I disagree Bungie.net if you were banned you were banned it was sucks to be you, you play our game we don’t care. Where as here 343 made a thread dedicated to resolving ban issues on matchmaking. Most of the time the people deserve to be banned true but they at least attempt to redeem the people that didn’t.

Wrong. The reason CoD is so popular is because it is highly accessible. You can join in any game and start getting kills. There is a very little learning curve. On top of that, CoD rewards you a lot, even if you die. CoD also has a lot of customization, both aesthetic and functional, which adds to the life of the online multiplayer.

It isn’t because they are stupid and easily amused or very young. That mentality in itself is very immature and ignorant.

You know what I love? When Reach defenders tell everyone to go back to HALO 3 if they crave competitive or classic gameplay. Halo 3 was junk competitively and almost as far removed from classic Halo as Reach. The great irony is, Halo 3 was many, many times more enjoyable on a casual level than Reach will ever be (hilarious, as the casual aspect is the Reachtard’s lone defense for Reach).

I just wanted to say that.

Halo 4 will most likely be subpar because 343 has said the community will shape Halo from here on, and the majority of the Halo community talking right into their ear is filled with clueless Halo 3 kids who only value flash and style.

Continue.

Remember when Halo had a learning curve? I miss those days.

I don’t believe I said Bungie listens to the community more but I do agree that 343i is much better in handling bans than Bungie was/is.

Just saying, its not wise to jump to conslusions this early. All we’ve seen about Halo 4 is a little concept art and a teaser trailer. This is not nearly enough to judge a game yet. (Don’t judge a book by its cover).

For your concerns about 343i… 343 has been working behind the scenes of Halo for a while now. Halo Legends, waypoint, maps, etc. They know what they’re doing. We still have Frankie, and 2 other Bungie members that will help guide Halo along. All of 343’s staff is made up of people who want to continue the Halo story, people who love the Halo Universe. Nothing wrong there. Don’t forget someone has already left 343 because the rest of 343 wouldn’t let him change it they way he wanted too. 343i is faithful, and Seargent Johnson is watching down on us from the big Halo ring in the sky… and he won’t let anything bad happen to it. Unless we’re attacked by robot unicorns. Then we’re screwed.

And Halo 4 will be epic. Because the enemy has been leaked: Pretty Pink Bunnies With Easter Egg Launchers.
