if you compare halo… let’s say reach (to be recent) to other games’s graphics like BF3 you can tell that the graphics are great in the tiniest details but the lighting is less good:
BF3 Gameplay (watch: 4:45 till 5:00)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT1MTh_ShB4&feature=related
when you are in a shadowed area you can clearly see your gun getting darker. other players in shadowed area’s look darker. it just looks real.
halo reach gameplay (watch 0:15 till 0:20)

you see the guy walking through a cave that is really dark but his the lighting on his gun almost stays the same as it was first (compared to BF3)
so when 343 made the new halo reach maps they couldn’t do anything about that ‘‘shadow on players’’ thing really, but they used great lighting in the maps! if you look at this game
(watch 0:20 till 0:40)

you can clearly see how vibrant the coloring of this map looks.
now when i saw th BR gameplay from Halo 4 i was amazed:

in the overall clip you can see your spartan’s shadow reflecting on your gun.
and i just think that looks amazing and it hasn’t been done in a halo game before.
(sorry if i made language mistakes, i’m dutch so…)
do you guys agree with me?
