This is why Halo 4 needs to match based on skill. This video is also proof that Reach doesn’t match you based on skill. (Although most people already know this)
While it may not be 100%, I think it matches you on a degree of skill.
a freind of mine laggs quite frequently and doesnt do well because of it, and he gets paired with complete BKs.
I on the other hand, normally find players who pose a bit of a challenge.
Hopefully halo 4’s trueskill will be more accurate…
That’s an unfair example.

I mostly find scrubs on Reach. Maybe 1 in every 20 matches I find someone who knows what strafing is.
> That’s an unfair example.
Why? Because a team of 4 MLG pros can match randoms? Or the fact that they can get about 80 kills before the enemies can get 50?
> That’s an unfair example.
Nuh uh
> That’s an unfair example.
You always make claims, but never elaborate further what you mean. So please, for once, tell us how is it an unfair example? No matter what, good players shouldn’t be able to get almost hundred kills before their opponents can get to fifty in a playlist that is supposed to be skill based. Preferably, it shouldn’t be possible in any playlist because it simply isn’t fun for either of the parties.
Just wanted to point out that this wasn’t the only match like this, they were doing it consistently the entire night, working their way up from being down by 10 kills to being down by 50 kills and winning nearly every time.
> Just wanted to point out that this wasn’t the only match like this, they were doing it consistently the entire night, working their way up from being down by 10 kills to being down by 50 kills and winning nearly every time.
So they were purposely breaking the system to get uneven matchups? Much like how boosting worked in Halo 3?

How is it boosting? That is just proving how badly Reach works. They’re winning games while being over 50 kills down. It’s not like they’re choosing their matches, or even getting an unfair advantage. They’re legitimately matching players worse than them, and still winning after starting the game at a 30 point handicap.

Did you even watch the video?
They were just regularly going into matchmaking and then doing what you saw in the video. How is that ‘breaking the system’ or in any way ‘boosting’?

You don’t understand. This kid thinks truskill works in Reach.
> That’s an unfair example.
Not really unfair, but it’s not a very good example. Yes, that’s a team of 4 MLG pros who are matching up against a bunch of randoms. First of all, any coordinated team could have dominated those players if you saw how little awareness they had in that game. Second of all, they’re PROFESSIONAL GAMERS. That’s like matching up an NFL team with a middle school (American) football team. It’s an extreme example, and extreme examples can not be taken seriously in an argument.
However, I think most people would agree that a skill based system is necessary for balanced matchmaking. But no, that does not mean 1-50. As Bungie stated, TrueSkill was apparently working in the background of Reach. It was just apparently implemented extremely poorly.
EDIT: And just to clarify, I’m agreeing that we need skill based matching. And yes, I know TrueSkill is horrible in Reach to the point where it’s basically non-existent.

This extreme example is actually a perfect example. These MLG pros shouldn’t be getting matched up against randoms or even a full party of that skill level. That’s the fault of the system and that is what needs to change.

What players of similar skill level would be playing that playlist at the same time? Isn’t there like, a dozen or so other players that can actually match them?

A dozen plus another team is enough to have 4 teams. 2 games going on at the same time. All of evenly-matched players.

And I’m sure they’d all be online when you want them to be…

He said himself they would be online and playing. I’m just going with what has been given to me.
