The chief is back. We are finally continuing the chiefs story that ended on a cliffhanger. New enemies, new trilogy. Its a lot more exciting than a prequel that we already knew the end to.
343 has learned from Reach’s problems. Bungie tried a lot of things that didn’t work. Armor Lock is gone. Bloom has been nearly completely eraticated and is only really effected on the magnum. And the loadouts have been embraced and a focus on balance has been implemented. 343 wasn’t afraid to embrace sprint as default allowing the other abilities to be utilized.
More forge environments. All of Halo 4’s forge maps looked the same. and now with 3 distinct forge environments there will be more variety and diversity than Reach. And the forge variants will not be featured in Matchmaking at launch.
A return to gameplay. The spartans sizes are more akin to the trilogy and the movement speed/jump heights are more like Halo 3. Meaning gameplay will feel more like the trilogy than Reach.
5 And the part im most excited about is the maps. the trilogy had amazing maps at launch and Reach was absolutely abysmal with no standouts. Halo 4’s map design looks much better than Reach’s already. The environments are far more interesting and there are more maps this time. Reach shipped with 8 non forged map. Leaving very little small competitive maps and almost no big team battle maps because 2 maps were designed for invasion. and then the rest of the maps all looked the same. Not only that but the maps Reach had were not very good.
With Halo 4 we already have promising small/big team maps.
Haven looks good and is symetrical.
Adrift looks pretty good and is also symetrical
Solace looks fantastic and is symetrical
Longbow looks like a great asymetrical btb map.
Complex looks like a good mid sized map in the vein of high ground
Exile looks great
[removed due to forum rules regarding leaked content]
There are still 3 maps we haven’t seen.

Though I disagree with your title:
The Chief had to disappear for awhile for us to yearn for his return.
To the Chief, he literally just blew up a 2nd Halo ring, put his weapon in lockup and then feel asleep in such a way that wouldn’t actually be sleep.
For us, he’s been gone 5 years… A lot has changed in 5 years hasn’t it?
Now, not only have we learned that there were more Spartans in MJOLNIR armour then we were initially led to believe, now we find out that there are at least 300 Spartans in MJOLNIR strong, most with a need for an attitude adjustment, ODST style.
