Why Halo 2 PC is relevant.

In light of Halo 2 V’s extension into June this thread was created to explain why Halo 2 Vista should be better supported on Halo Waypoint.

Halo 2 PC is widely regarded as the ugly duckling of the Halo series. It is a PC port of the original Halo 2, but with added bonuses. It was put down because it only operated on the infamous Windows Vista and failed to take advantage of the hardware capabilities of the PC. At the time these drawbacks bothered many, but now Halo 2 V can be run on windows 7 with ease and members of the PC community have taken it upon themselves to improve the game’s capability with the additions of mods for a variety of uses.

Halo 2 V was something unique when compared to other Halo titles. It was the first and only Halo game to feature a map maker not a map editor. It came with all previous downloadable content installed and two maps exclusive to the PC version. The game was much more of a full game then the standard console version. It was also the first Halo game to feature achievements. Despite being the pioneer of achievements it is unacknowledged by the tracker on halo waypoint. What a strange phenomenon. The list of Halo games on the xbox app makes no mention of Halo 2 V or Halo CE PC. It is somewhat disheartening to see two of the most unique Halo games neglected by 343i.

After the end of original xbox live, Halo 2 PC became the oldest Halo game to still offer continued online support. This title is in jeopardy, but seeing how Halo 2 V operates mostly on private servers it is difficult to understand how 343i is going to cut support that never seemed to exist.

Halo 2 V is game to behold if any gamer wants to still catch a glimpse of what the Halo series was like before the current gen. I urge anyone who has not played the original Halo 2 to try Halo 2 V. It is quite cheap at retailers and there is a thread to download it online for free in a legal manner.

Halo 2 Vista has been neglected to be tracked and supported on Halowaypoint for quite some time. 343i should take the time to acknowledge the PC port and include it into Halo Waypoint. It is a title that pioneered many areas, but received little merit.

Support Halo 2 Vista on Halo Waypoint.

What a well thought out post! I agree, they need to add some support to the game.

I really hope 343 will release a patch that will finally stabilized the game for everyone that had major issues in the past.

While I doubt they will patch it, the least they can do is keep the servers online.

Also bringing the achievements over to waypoint would be great too.

As a Halo 2 Xbox Live Veteran. I own Halo 2 Vista (PC). I really would much respect 343i and give them the seal of approval, on one condition that is. Bring Matchmaking to PC and also allow the game to fully fixed with a powerfully Anti-Cheating Engine. I would highly recommend Valves Anti-Cheat Engine to stop hackers, and glitchers. I want to see Halo 2 PC get HD Grapics with 8x anti aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering. Which would be DirectX 11. With Video Cards being supported such for example and 250 GTS and HD Radeon 5770 or higher for Awesome HD Graphics.

I don’t say this because im demanding this game be done. i requesting this because i believe that Halo 2 PC can be 100% playable online and can be sold much better pn steam or “Games For Windows Live Marketplace”. If you do major patch work please take my suggestions to heart.

I don’t want to bash 343i but if they dont i can bemost certain people who arent honest like me will tare 343i to pieces in the media. I would rather they truly fix Halo 2 PC and make sure to allow beta testing for the new patch, and let people comment in the feedback
