Why go afk? Can someone explain?

I physically dont get the people who are afk from game start till they get kicked or the people who have edited their input so they’re moving and dont get kicked?

I just dont get the point in it, can anyone give me a solid reason?

Btw I’m not on about anyone that has to quickly do something or pee etc. But if its ranked or something make sure you’re free. Or if youre gonna be gone for awhile just quit? You’re gonna get kicked regardless so staying in is only ruining everyone else’s fun and I’m sure you arent that selfish/petty.

Maybe their mom told them to do the dishes.

Overall though, it’s not really something that needs a big explanation. I go AFK when my dog decides to pee himself, or chew up the wall.

If I ever get forced to play an AR/sidekick game mode because of a “complete games” challenge, I just sit in a corner and AFK. Not playing those trash settings.

So what’s the point in even playing?

That’s like most game modes (how it should be) which leave ranked and fiesta your only options.

Most people have drift of some form so they aren’t actually registered as afk for what that’s worth - so they don’t get kicked.

My personal reasons though - wife comes into the room when I am supposed to be working from home haha. Other reasons like kiddo has an emergency. Or just the standard one I know other people do - they need to play some gametype that they don’t want to. I normally try still but if my team is getting rolled or my dog needs to go out or something, one of you can die the last few deaths instead. And I would never waste a swap on complete X amount of games even for game types I hate - they are just too easy compared to some of the other stupid challenges. Swaps are for do 5 guardian angels, 10 ravanger kills, get 5 kill joys or random bugged ones like BTB and FFA currently.

And related to being forced to play specific gametypes - AR/sidkick starts suck. It’s melee heaven - so if you get that stupid “GeT 25 MeLeE KiLlS” challenge, go to regular team slayer or quick play and easily get 5+ a game since everyone just tries to melee all game. And so far the majority of the cheaters I’ve come across are sidekick users (since you can kill in less than .5 seconds with aim bot).

Grinding out XP, logging in with another account to pad stats or more easily complete challenges, fools deliberately griefing and trolling and so on.

Idk whenever someone is afk if there’s vehicles I just betray them the whole game

Spicy hot take but Ranked and SWAT are the only good modes in Infinite. AR/sidekick modes are a bad version of Halo 5. :hot_pepper:

So punish your teammates for a 343 design? Great logic there guy :ok_hand:t2:

I’d say it’s more like 343 punishing my teammates by forcing me to play game modes I don’t want to play because of their dumb-as-rocks challenge system. :ok_hand:

I respect your decision, just don’t boot me after I run you over with the warthog 100 times while the enemy team watches

Sorry that was meant to be a reply to you

Pouting in the corner because you don’t want to do something is something a little kid does. How about you grow up, man up, and just get through the mode like the rest of us adults instead of being a -Yoink!- to your teammates and blaming 343?

It could have multiple reasons:

  1. The game refuses them to load in. The players screen then is just stuck in the loading screen, even though their spartan is already in the game. This is a problem the player can’t do something about. The game should just make it so the spartan only loads in when the player is in the game.
  2. The challenge forces them to complete a gametype that they hate, so they just go AFK to not get extremely frustrated. Forcing people into gametypes they hate to complete challenges and unlock the ‘prize’ doesn’t make them want to play that match. And most also refuse to pay money to get a swap to get out of that challenge, so they will just go AFK in the match to complete it without having to play it.
  3. The extremely weak SBMM makes it so they feel they are always outgunned in that match and they don’t want to quit because of possible quitbans. They don’t want to play either, so they just will do something else untill the game is over. Forcing people to play matches they don’t like just doesn’t make them want to play, so if they feel they can’t quit, they just will go AFK and do something else in the mean time.
  4. They just want to grind XP and don’t like to play.
  5. They had an problem IRL that occured during the match, but either didn’t feel it would take long or they didn’t feel they could quit without risking a ban.

Perhaps i am missing a reason, but i think these are the main reasons.

Why afk? Because you get banned for leaving a 3:4 stronghold game with one guy additionally feeding. first match if the day… great system, huh?

You dont get banned over 1 DC, it takes quite alot for it to happen. Plus you get kicked which counts as quitting?

I record them doing it. If they start playing I stop recording, but if they do it most/all of the match I go to Halo Support with the video and submit it to see if anything can be done to that individual for griefing the match.

One of the perks of owning Nvidia Card is you can record matches at the push of a button.

thats what i thought as well… but have a look:

edit: no indication how long or actually why the account is banned… you gotta love 343’ approach on things. Incompetence at another level.

Challenges like “complete x games of fiesta” lead to this. No need to do anything but pin your stick to the left and let it sit while you get credit towards the challenge lol
