why glitches made halo(games) fun

This is just my opinion but…

Its simple, knowing something that other players don’t makes a game more playable(adds hours upon hours of play time to the game), adds a level of competitiveness, and it adds another layer of skill over the foundation of a game.

Now some of you probably already know what glitches I’m going to mention but hear me out.

Glitches that are unbeatable, Extremely unfair and are easy to do should never happen in a video game, for example :

Javelin Glitch (CODMW2)
Elevator Glitch (CODMW2)
Crab Walking (GOW)
Karate Jump(or whatever its called when you’re guy flips up to the top of the map) (GOW)
Etc.

But Glitches that take skill and add another element to the game, I feel, should be implemented into a once competitive shooter, that is Halo.

Glitches like the Double-Shot(Halo2), BXR(Halo2), BXB(Halo1/2), Super Bounces(Halo2), Sword Cancels(Halo2) extremely difficult to master(except sword cancels), Add another layer of competitiveness(its true) that the developers couldn’t provide the player with originally. Look at games like Counter Strike, with the Bunny Hop, how many times do you see pro players bunny hop across the map?

I’m just saying, the games are able to be explored deeper than what the developers intended. I know how many hours I tried to perfect my RRX and super bounces at LAN parties where everyone was trying to dissect the game, everyone wanted to know what everyone else new. It turns into a social thing, people figure out good glitches and the game grows healthy like a tree because people end up telling their friends and so on and so forth. Unless the game has parasites(javelin glitch, crab walking) that spread.

I’m just saying the game gets more playable or “fun” when you discover More about the game than what was intended to…its true.

I loved glitches in Halo 3. I never used multiplayer glitches to win games, I was more into the campaign glitches. Loved running all over that huge portal in “The Storm”

Halo 2 had the BEST Campaign glitches. They added so much replay value, it’s insane.

Yeah I totally forgot to talk about campaign glitches. Personally I’m more of a multiplayer guy but I still follow the halo campaign to the detail(halo 1 campaign, hands down best campaign ever made). Campaign glitches actually made skulls worth getting.

Who doesnt miss this?

LOL, when I first discovered the blind skull I thought that my game got scratched.

hahaha welcome to the club

As a retired campaign glitcher of H1, H2, and H3, I whole-heartily agree.

There were custom games dedicated to glitching in Halo 2. I miss that.

I don’t really mind glitches as long as they aren’t used for personal gain. If it adds to the fun why not? but if someone is using it as there personal “god mode” then i’m fully against it.

In Reach the guy would have just got a return to battlefield warning. This warning need to be removed so glitches can actually can be done. I can understand the warning in matchmaking but not campaign and forge.
