Why Forge is Important on Release

A lot of people have been posting how they think the multiplayer and single-player Campaign will be enough to hold us until the co-op Campaign and Forge release months later. I read that the Forge could take up to 6 months before coming out. This would not be a good idea because, as we’ve seen in older Halo games, Custom Games plays a large role in retaining the player base. Multiplayer and Campaign will be fun but, as months go by, other games will release, users will have already beaten the Campaign and the multiplayer will not be fresh enough to retain everybody. The game needs Forge so that new experiences can be created to hold the player base longer. In Halo 5, Forge was released too late. For the remaining of the Halo 5 lifespan, there was a lack of quality games to play in Customs. I tried many times with my friends but there was not enough players nor maps for us to play on. Every time I went to the Customs Browser everybody was playing the same 4 games: Jenga, Hotel Room, Assassination Arena, and Duck Hunt. This is because half the player base was not available to make new maps.

Forge needs to be available at the height of the player base. This will set the game up for a quality Customs Browser and a player base that will return to the game for less competitive fun.

50 days, or 7 weeks, after launch that Halo 5 got Forge. Sounds long but in reality it was a little over a month between game release and Forge release. There was certainly never a lack in quality of customs, if anything the quality only increased as newer updates for Forge were released and people got used to the tools. Infinite’s Forge will be baking for longer and I agree it’s not great to wait so long, but I believe truly that it will be worth the wait. I’d honestly rather be playing Infinite for a few months waiting for Forge that waiting to play any of it.

Disagree. It’s not clear they aren’t rushing campaign to get it to meet the deadline. I’d rather get the game we’ve waited for and have it really be an event than another lackluster, “Oh, well… Whatever.”

“Halo’s out now, I guess. Sort of.”

Why shoot themselves in the foot at launch when they’ve got the opportunity to do something really special?
