I remember someone saying that you can’t just dive into forge making maps like crazy like the old times, and man, that person was right. Mainly people complain about the controls, at first I agreed with them, I wasn’t used to these new controls. But then later I was getting used to the controls, after that I made a cool little map call “Cannon Chain.” In this map you went across the map going on a ton of cannon men. I liked how you could edit the distance and the direction of how you would launch on the cannon men. I realized after I made the map that 343 worked really hard on this mode. There are a ton of new things you could do. I think this version of forge is awesome! Who else agrees with me?
I was never a forge guy, but maybe I will try this one out.
If we can change navigating up and down (A and B buttons) things would be different.
I just can’t wait to dive into it more thoroughly I have only been able to play for about 20 mins and I put up a tree in the breakout map. Thats about all I could handle.
The controls are a bit tough for me still, and I haven’t gotten the hang of this Forge yet… but the potential here is simply ridiculous. 343i did an amazibg job.
I hope we’ll get a desert map at some point.

That would be pretty cool. Like Sandbox or Sandtrap from Halo 3.
My only issue is the lack of prefab buildings, and getting used to vertical movement bound to a/b.
It’s going to be a challenge remaking my maps from Reach/4/H2A, but I look forward to making the prefabs for myself. I’ve so far made the “Tower Tall” structure, the grouping feature has really helped me out.

Exactly. I’ve wanted a Sandtrap remake forever, pretty much. Elephants would be a nice touch, too.
I have no idea why people are complaining about controls. I hoped on yesterday, started playing with it and in about 10 minutes I had the basic controls down. There is A LOT of depth and things you can do, but the basic controls for moving, placing, snaping objects is simple and makes building super quick. I got so much work done on my first map because the grouping tool makes things much easier. I say give it time, start building and you will love how easy it is.

I have 5 hours in forge, the I understand the controls, it’s not easier with the new setup, I want a choice to switch back to the old, unless I’m just a -Yoinking!- moron and doing something wrong?

I would just use the Xbox Accessories app and remap those buttons to something else. Also, having an Elite controller myself, I realize that whoever decided on A and B must have one also because using the paddles is a breeze.
