Why exactly do a lot of people hate Reach?

On Waypoint, I seem to see a LOT of Reach hate that I haven’t really seen before.
Can anyone tell me why they dislike Reach? I personally thought it was good.
Please respect other’s opinions. If they dislike Reach and you like it, don’t start something. Same goes for the people who dislike Reach- don’t cause a argument with those who do.

Multiplayer is by far the most different than any other halo. I liked it but liked it the least out of the rest.

Because the campaign is very shallow and there is no character development. It’s the same idea every time. Shoot the covenant and don’t die. Bungie took a lot of weapons away.

I liked it myself. Campaign wasn’t that great, yes, but custom games and Forge were near perfection.

Hackers, modders, the fact a lot of people paid for map packs and 343 took the dlc playlists away, I just got out of a game full of modders, all 8 of the other team, it was territories on abridged, they were insta killing people on my team, when it got to my teams round…the timer started at 1 minute remaining. If 343i don’t sort this out, I think a lot of people will forget about buying any more of their products. They really need to bring back community favourite playlists, sort out the modders, and make the game fun to play again, same with Halo 4!

Personally, I enjoyed the story, just because I liked the expansion of the Halo universe in a game. Now the missions of the story may not have been the best of the series, but the way the story was set up, given the fact that Reach is doomed and the way the game ended, I enjoyed it a lot. However, It was definitely not my favorite multiplayer of the series. Most of the reasons I have heard people say though is that they didn’t care and weren’t made to care about the characters in the story. I don’t agree with it, but then again I seem to be in the minority here.

My only real problem with Reach was that I wanted/expected a longer campaign given how major an event the fall of Reach is in Halo lore and since it was Bungie’s last Halo game. It’s still my favorite Halo game, but still I expected more.

Campaign was lacking but MP was great IMO. Still my fav to play online.

I absolutely loved Halo Reach.
It was very different from all the Halo’s but it have amazing Forge mechanics, beautifully customizable armor that we’ve never had before, (personal one for me) I liked role playing with my Spartan look in Campaign.
I just really like that game…

Campaign was shallow in depth(although same can be said about Halo 1…) and the gameplay seemed really bs for me with armour lock and jetpack…

Infection, Invasion and customs were awesome though.

modders are ok for custom games infact the one of the things I enjoyed most in reach but in match making is the problem

I really like Reach but I wish they would have kept some of the traditional Halo weapons.

I don’t get why anyone could hate Reach.

The mulitplayer modes are fun especially Invasion.

Reach is great. It gave a lot to the Halo universe and games. I wish they would have taken more care to match it canonically to Fall of Reach.
Regardless, I’m going to miss it while I’m playing MCC.

The only feedback I’d like to give about the game is that we should be allowed to choose what species we want to be in online matchmaking except Invasion in this case.

I don’t think I’ll quit playing it but once MCC comes out it’ll be another one of those like two-year breaks from Reach.

Also no BR…

the list could go on forever but a few key and detrimental reasons:

  • no visible skill ranking system and separation between ranked and social playlists/players, arena was a joke and is dead
  • bloom on weapons like DMR’s detract from player’s skill with random elements thrown in
  • armor abilities make it so players are fighting the game gimmicks and not the skill of the actual players
  • terrible maps for multiplayer, some of the worst layouts I’ve ever played on. maps like sword base that have 80% useless areas on the map. This is called dead zones and terrible for map flow to make it fun

I hate Reach only for the lag during the match (It’s not my connection, because if I go on halo 4 or halo 3 there isn’t lag)

The campaign had little story, and absolutely no tie-ins with the book. Armor abilities should have been something found on the map, rather than just spawning with.
