If you haven’t noticed, 343i, machinima has been growing in exponential amounts for almost a decade. When elites were introduced as playable characters in Halo 2, the possibilities for machinima became endless.
With these characters, we have great series like The Codex and its sequel The Heretic, the continued Red vs Blue series with the “alien” as an added character, This Spartan Life and more recently Arby ‘n’ the Chief, which just began a new season. I’ve even created a music video on YouTube where I needed an elite to be a character.
I understand that elites won’t be playable in matchmaking due to the fact that multiplayer battles supposedly take place on the UNSC Infinity as a simulation, but at least give us the option to play as elites in Custom Games and (if it’s hopefully implemented) Forge. I don’t think you guys understand what will happen to machinima series in Halo 4 without elites.

Rarely used? You do understand how large the Machinima community is right? Thousands of people dish out money to buy capture cards and software in order to use Halo as their film medium. There are websites dedicated to machinima and Halo is one of the mostly used games for machinima.MachininationMachinima Not only that, there is also a huge elite fanbase that almost only plays customs, just to play as an elite. Trust me elites aren’t “Rarely Used” like somethings that are.

Let’s not forget Arby ‘n’ the Chief. If elites die out as MP characters, this series will die out as well.
I don’t think Machinima is dependant on Elites at all.
Besides, if people dish out money on capture cards and other stuff, then I suspect someone will mod it so that elites are playable and then use that for their Machinima. If they really need them that is.

I’m not saying that it’s “dependent” on Elites. I’m saying that the removal of elites is the removal of creative potential that the elites brought in the previous games. Most of my favorite machinima series in Halo have elites as prominent characters.

Last time I checked Arby ‘n’ the Chief used action figures, thus elites being playable in Halo 4 will be irrelevant for the future of the series.

Actually, you’re half wrong. It’s a hybrid. Most of the story for the recent seasons involve actual in-game footage.

Well with the fact that people continue to wacth RVB and that they require the Elites sometimes to continue the series. They are also used for humorus reasons.
well, elites definatley should be playable in at least custom games, it would be even better if we had even more playable characters but at least elites.

Really? Was I talking about kids’s machinima? No. I was talking about the major, big name ones that take months of work to craft. Obviously, you have no idea what it takes to make a quality movie using Halo. Most kids simply can’t do it.
