Why Eden fails in comparison to Empire.

The answer is player mobility.

Note: I used the callouts from Eden in my thread. I do not remember the callouts from Empire. So for Empire, I used some of Eden’s callouts. If they have a different name, let me know and I will edit them.

After playing a significant number of games on the new maps, I’ve noticed that there is an issue with Eden you don’t see on Empire.
Shown here (in the red circle) is the Center of Eden. There are two catwalks, “top catwalk” and “low catwalk”. This has led to two issues I’ve noticed with the map.

  1. There is no mobility in the center of the map. If you look here (see red circle at the right-bottom corner) at Empire you will see these structures allow mobility between the “outside” and “security”. There is a way to cross the middle of the map from above! With Eden, the only ways to get from “outside” to "security is by ground or to go all the way around the map. This really limits the mobility of the players on the map.

  2. Since you cannot move to “top catwalk”, it is a great spot for people to camp. While you do want places on the map which people can control, the mobility here is the issue. There are only 2 entrances to “top catwalk” and it’s not symmetric between red and blue bases (which is perhaps part of the issue). BR starts are essentially necessary because with AR starts on this map, someone could grab the light rifle or DMR near “top catwalk” and decimate people.

Overall, since we have Empire already, I’m not really sure if Eden is even necessary. But If it’s to stay I propose a few solutions.

  1. Decrease the elevation of “Top Catwalk” (slightly). Decrease it low enough only so players can hop from “low catwalk” by jumping and climbing. This increases movement while still allowing for a point of the map to control.

  2. Add some sort of middle bridge/structure to hop onto. We have dual structures on Empire we can hop on. Why not add those to Eden?

  3. Make the map symmetrical. This won’t allow for movement from “low catwalk” to “top catwalk”. But at least you can get to “top catwalk” from three spots: “Security” and the 2 bases.

More like the devs have you snowed inot thinking they can make crap and you’ll buy it cause it’s something new…! Get a life kid and wake up and smell the coffee, or whatever you drink, that smells inviting or wakes you up…Like maybe a starbucks coffe latte or something…!

Dude, shut up. You aren’t posting anything constructive with all your -Yoinking!-.

Or you could leave and stop wasting your own time. Clearly you are pissed they are 2 builds of the same map. I don’t blame you. But being a -Yoink!- isn’t going to fix that now is it? At least I’m pointing out which map works and which doesn’t. Now you can either play nice or stop wasting your own time by posting on these forums because the game isn’t changing from here.

I agree OP. My biggest issue with Eden is how blue team has nearly instance access to top middle (both catwalks). And the deathzone that the bottom of the map is (seriously, it looks like someone forgot to add crates or something.)

Not to mention you can hardly see Blue Team foes beyond close range because they colour-blend so well into the environment.

I agree with this too. I like the map, but Blue Team blends in all too well with the night time atmosphere. I can still see them when I’m not on Blue Team, but it still is an issue for some of my friends. Not sure if that’s something that can be changed unless they decide to tone down the blue shading of the map or just change the team colors that face each other. That would be a new one.

Yup. I reported him for Non constructive.

Empire = CQC mostly
Eden = Ranged mostly
