Why Duel Wielding Should Be In Halo 4

OK, I’ve been seeing a lot of threads where people say how they feel about duel wielding, but none where anybody actually explains why it should be in the game. Hence this thread.

Firstly, I’ve been seeing a lot of people refering to duel wielding as a “useless gimmick”, sorry but that is utter crap. A gimmick is a marketing tool, which is usually irrelevent. An example of a gimmick would be armour customization as it doesn’t impact gameplay at all. Clearly, duel wielding does.

Secondly, there is a lot of depth to duel wielding, experimenting with different combos of weapons, to find out what works well, what doesn’t and then mastering firing the two different weapons independently.

A lot of people say duel wielding destroys the sandbox, again, not true. There are many ways to balance duel wielding so the weapons are still powerfull when single wielded. Halo 3/2 took away grenades and melee, however I’d say there should be a cooldown period between dropping your gun and bieng able to use either of those, to make duel wielding riskier.

Other ways to balance them would be removing zoom when duel wielded (for example, the single wield smg has a scope like in ODST, the duel wielded smg does not), increasing recoil (makes sense, one hand is on the gun, the gun will be less steady) and slowing RoF slightly. If all that somehow still hasn’t balanced the guns, decrease the damage output slightly when duel wielded just like in H2.

My final reason for duel wielding is simple. It’s fun. One of the biggest adrenaline rushes in video games for me personally, is bieng able to feel like a total badass while still bieng challenged.

The bottom line is duel wielding shouldn’t be removed because it was imbalanced. The potential is there for them to be balanced, and if past games are anything to go by they are a great addition to the Halo formula.

I wouldn’t mind. Not like I would ever use it anyway.

Yes, i totally agree with you. They should bring it back with much recoil but it’s stronger to use. Have it where smg or something else that is single wielded with almost no recoil and maybe have a scope on it depending on the gun.

Wow, it sure is quiet. Did I baffle all the duel wield haters with my wisdom? Surely not…

While I agree wholeheartedly that it should come back, being a player who absolutely loves to use dual-wielding, it’s always been confirmed that it won’t be returning. :frowning:

I miss dual-wielding. I was paying Halo 3 last night and owning with dual SMGs.

Well, typically good threads don’t really have anything to argue, and arguments are what keeps threads alive.

Source? As far as I know, all we had was a site saying “As of now there is no duel wielding”.

think for a second. Every halo 3 BTB game I ever gone in, no one what get two smgs by choice unless they were trying to defend a small base close range.

There was a reason why reach scrapped dual-wielding.
It was in order to make every weapon powerful in their own ways.

Lol at this pointless explanations for “keep Dual wielding!!!111”
Its fun? Because its fun, doesnt mean for 343 it must be in
Looks Cool? Yeah and now? There is no need for dual wielding.

If u want Dual wielding then play the old Halo games. They are still playable.

What is this? I don’t even…BTB battle maps are designed for long range combat. The only reason I can think of you using that as an example would be the fact that you’re just selecting the evidence that benifits your cause the most. Duel wielding is good for close to mid range combat. Maps like Foundry, Guardian and Standoff.

Source

Also, if it isn’t in by now, it definitely won’t be back. Something as big as dual-wielding would have been decided months, if not over a year ago.

lol at this pointless comment. Guessing you just skimmed the thread? You’ve completely ignored over half the points in there. And I didn’t even mention anything about it looking cool.

“there’s still no dual-wielding”

I’m probably deluding myself. But I’ll remain optimistic. I don’t think they’d have used that word if they weren’t considering it.

I don’t think it would be that hard to implement if the weapoons are already there, just some balancing issues on the duel wield versions, that’s all.

And if not, well there’s always Halo 5…

 1. THough I fail to see how that’s relevant.

Fun? In a video game?! Blasphemy!

> True, but the interior of that map offers some good close quarters combat. I played objective a lot, so that would be where most of the action is.

As long as I don’t have to play Team Duals I don’t care one way or another.
I absolutely HATED playing Team Duals in social slayer.

The only weapon I enjoyed dual wielding was the Needler.
